A customer tried to fight Tesco staff over a trolley check

Shoplifter geta angry and records Tesco employee and makes threats

In the above video a woman is stopped for a quick check. However, she starta recording and getting cross at the workers. A member of staff tries to stop her filming but thr qoamn goes balisric and starts shouting and swearing and making threats after this. Other members of staff try and calm her down but she refuses. In the end I heard the customer who filmed this got bannes from the store and was ordered to rake down the original TikTokvideo.

Honestly, customers like this are a nightmare. The check would've been over in 2 mins had she stayed calm. instead she thre a tantrum and got herself banned from the store.

An angey customer kicked me in the shin at work

I got kicked in the shin quite hard by a grown man today after I said I couldn't do a refund in self serve. He then kicked me quite hard and called me a c word and stormed off.

I reported him to management who just shrugged off my concerns and said to "move past it. It'd not like he broke your leg." No one spoke to me about it at all later today.

It hurts and he left a big bruise

Can I sue him or call the police?

edit: Typo in the topic *angry*

Why do Tesco never ban or take legal action against customers who assault colleagues?

Why is it customers can insult, shout, swear, or even assualt colleagues but never get even banned from the store?

Tesco have the money to take legal action and sue these customers but won't. They refuse to even ban them

Update on what happened to my colleague who took a child's phone

Update to here

https://www.reddit.com/r/tesco/comments/1u3txt5/comment/ord5krs/?screen_view_count=26

Well, the parents went to collect the phone and according to my colleague (he didnt see them but the manager told him how it went) the parents were nice about it and apologised for their son's behaviour and said he won't do it again.

My colleague said he got a disciplinary meeting and got a formal warning for his actions. But my colleague said he didnt care and if given a choice would do it again

Loving all the England football songs playing on the radio in stores

I love it that Tesco are playing so many England songs. Feel good working and hearing World in Motion, Vindaloo and the Come on Eileen parody song playing. I love how Tesco goes all out for England when the World Cup is on. I love the banners and signs in the stores too.

The songs always build up hype for the games and listening to them puts me in a great mood
I love being in a football-themed supermarket.

Colleague took a child's phone at the store

Yes this involves the same colleague who recorded that pain of a customer and posted him on FB

The other day there waa this group of 11 year olds messing around in our store and being rude annoying to the staff in the self serve area. After one of them started to record us my colleague grabbed the phone out of the kid's hand and refused to give it back and said he'd have to come back with a parent to collect the phone back. He then went and handed it to customer service desk as a missing phone.

My colleague said he did this to both punish the kid and notify the kids' parents so his parents would come into the store and hear about his bad behaviour and hold him accountable. My colleague sais schools do this all the time so it is legally fine.

Is he correct to do this?

Customers thinking we get double pay on Sundays

When on checkouts every Sunday I usually hear at least one person say to me "At least you get double pay today for working Sunday, righr?". And then they're shocked when I tell them Sundays is no bonus.

Anyone else have these comments a lot?

Why do Tesco never donate to colleague's collections or fundraisers?

Seriously, they make billions a year and never donate to a coworkers collecrion for birthdays, funerals, healthcare, instead relying solely on their workers who get paid close to minimum wage to pay money. Surely Tesco as a business could donate at least a few quid to each collection

Recorded a rude customer and posted the footage online

A few weeks back there was a rude ans aggressive man in the self serve- My coworker took a picture of him and posted it on a local Facebook group and told him he was banned.

Well he came back a few days ago and the same co-workers told the guy he was banned and to get out and then the customer became quite sweary and shouty. My cowroker started recording him on his phone for a minute until he left and then posted the footage onto the same Facebook group, his own Facebook page and his own personal TikTok account as a public freakout video.

My cowokrer said it's fine as public freakout videos get recorded and uploaded all the time in businesses by customers so us co-workers can do it too. But is he right

Uploading a picture of a troublesome customer to a local Facebook group

Yesterday we had an issue in ghe self serve with a customer shouting and being rude and aggressive he was back today despite being told he was banned. So the colleague I was with yesterday took a picture of him today and posted it on a local Facebook group explaining the trouble he caused at the store and warning others about him.

Are we allowed to do this?

Celebrating other colleagues birthdays?

Do other Tesco storea do birthday meals out where colleagues go to restaurants together to celebrate birthdays?

My store has this guy on self serve who often arranges meetups at restaurants to celebrate coworkers birthday who also work on self serve. He does this on average once a month. Often he and others chip in and buy gifts and do collections.

Do other stores do stuff like this or is it just ours?

Can normal colleagues ban people from the store?

We had a rude customer on self serve the other day while our shift leader and manager were busy. So my coworker told them they were banned from the store and not to come back or he'll call the police.

This customer was shouting and swearing and being rude, so deserves it. But my question is can regular colleagues ban customers or can it only be done by managers?
