Manager cancel an already approved lifestyle break because I applied for another store?

I’m looking for some advice on whether this is normal/allowed under company policy.

I’m due to go back to my home country for around 4 months (Nov–Feb) because my parents are unwell and having surgeries. I informed my manager months ago and my lifestyle break was approved.
My current store is now over an hour drive away since I relocated, so I discussed with my manager that I’d apply for vacancies at other stores. I recently applied for another store and clearly mentioned in my application that I already had an approved lifestyle break.
When I asked my manager to endorse my application, they called me in and told me they had cancelled my lifestyle break because I had “broken their trust” by applying elsewhere.
I’m confused because I had already told them I was applying to other stores, and my break had already been approved.
Can a manager cancel an approved lifestyle break for this reason? Has anyone experienced something similar?

First time shopping tesco this morning

I read the reviews for my local tesco and it was full of the staff are not helpful etc. It put me off shopping there but today I finally shopped there and it was so good and I was walking around the store and the staff was saying hello good morning etc and the young woman was helpful with the self scan so I don't know who writes these reviews but it certainly weren't my experience

Missing ambient cages.

If any stores are missing ambient cages, they're wedged under a railway bridge on the A5.

Does anybody else get frustrated ? the answer to every problem in the company is will send an email and then nothing ever happens.

Your tills don’t work properly and randomly reboot ,the air-conditioning is broken see working sometimes in 30 to 40° heat ,the Wi-Fi keeps cutting out so contactless payments and digital club cards stop working ,

We have refrigeration that keep breaking down in the summer. This happens every year nobody is bothered to do anything about it.

We have a petrol station pump they got hit by a car. It’s still waiting to be repaired two years later.

Regret resigning

Last Friday, I emailed my manager and resigned with immediate effect due to a family issue. I’ve regretted my decision ever since and reached out to my Transport Manager today to see if I could withdraw my resignation. Unfortunately, it’s too late, as I’m now down on the system as a leaver. I'm absolutely gutted as I really enjoyed driving for them

Need some advice? Perhaps a hug

Hey Tesco peeps, looking for a bit of advice here, been a shift leader in express for 2 years now that’s always spoken about wanting to step up in terms of career in Tesco, always achieves the highest scores on reviews even though I have to badger my store manager to complete them as they don’t view as important these days.

My people partner is head of talent for the region but they are useless, I’ve had three meetings planned with them in the past 3months to talk about the future, and every time they cancel at short notice because business needs them elsewhere, however the general consensus from staff at all levels in the region on this people partner is the “people” element of their job is so weak it’s laughable, constantly behind on emails and broken promises. I’ve heard from another shift leader they raised a grievance and mediation talks were meant to happen but the meetings got delayed and delayed to a point the shift leader left the business from frustration.

Now Tesco has been kind to me, my daughter was born 1 year ago and had to take a bit of time out due (6 weeks) to certain reasons that Tesco supported me with, has this clouded my view on the fact the company speaks one thing in terms of building a career but in reality it’s nowhere near?

I might be rambling but can I speak to anyone else? Can I facilitate a move to another region? Should I look at another company? Is this company spread or just a bad apple in a basket situation?

Will this cause problems?

So, we all know by now the customer delivery drivers hours are changing. There's no redundancy being offered and drivers are being told it's optional.

We've been told that if our hours want to remain as they are, then we will be moved to other areas of the store to work within our hours.

However, they can't cut the drivers pay... This is going to cause mayhem no? At least 10 or more drivers at our store are refusing to change availability, they've been told that they will work in the warehouse, tills, groceries ect.

How is this going to go down with the employees already in these areas on £2 an hour less?

Imagine grafting an 8 hour shift and 2 people doing the same thing are earning quite a bit more than you each paycheck.

How will this be sorted?

No lemonade and now no unsmoked streaky

what’s happened to the unsmoked streaky bacon? the finest stuff in the 2 for a fiver section?

I ain’t a fan of the smoked as it ain’t really smoked, it’s painted on flavour, I was told that by a bloke who works in the food industry

anyway it’s been a month now since I saw unsmoked streaky on the shelf, what the hells going on?

Body cams

Hi, been told today that all staff must wear body cams at all times on self service, my t shirt doesn’t have a body camera holder so got given a paper clip to attach it to myself of which I said no and now been put on a till all day when scheduled to self serve. I wouldn’t have picked up the overtime knowing I’d be on a till not self serve. Is there anything I can do?

Surprised by this very generous substitute

In the past when I’ve ordered nappies that were unavailable I’ve usually been given nothing lol, so £55 worth of nappies for less than a tenner has pleased me.

First Aid responsibilities?

I’m a First Aider, and within about five minutes of starting my shift today I was told by CSD that I was responsible for cleaning the customer toilets because someone had got faeces all over them.

I went to our Store Manager and tried to push back, but was told that it was my responsibility and “what I get paid extra for.”

If this had been directly related to a First Aid incident, I’d absolutely understand dealing with bodily fluids as part of that situation. But this wasn’t. The toilets had apparently been left like that for quite a while, and it only became “my responsibility” once I came in because I’m a First Aider.

I’m happy to carry out my actual First Aid responsibilities, including dealing with blood/bodily fluids where necessary during an incident, but I didn’t become a First Aider to be the designated person for cleaning faeces from customer toilets.

Has anyone else come across this..?

Autistic Struggle

I work nights, on temporary, covering the health and beauty Aisles. I struggle with it, and the delivery cages severely overwhelm me, so my manager had someone drop everything for me. I’m not very fast at it but I genuinely am doing my best.

Last week, I was told that they are taking away the person who is dropping it for me. Is there anyway that makes the delivery cages less overwhelming/easier? He told me if I don’t speed up, I’ll be getting fired, and it seems counterproductive to suddenly stop my accommodation of someone dropping it for me. I have mentioned many times I am disabled and have autism. Please help.
