Need some advice? Perhaps a hug

Hey Tesco peeps, looking for a bit of advice here, been a shift leader in express for 2 years now that’s always spoken about wanting to step up in terms of career in Tesco, always achieves the highest scores on reviews even though I have to badger my store manager to complete them as they don’t view as important these days.

My people partner is head of talent for the region but they are useless, I’ve had three meetings planned with them in the past 3months to talk about the future, and every time they cancel at short notice because business needs them elsewhere, however the general consensus from staff at all levels in the region on this people partner is the “people” element of their job is so weak it’s laughable, constantly behind on emails and broken promises. I’ve heard from another shift leader they raised a grievance and mediation talks were meant to happen but the meetings got delayed and delayed to a point the shift leader left the business from frustration.

Now Tesco has been kind to me, my daughter was born 1 year ago and had to take a bit of time out due (6 weeks) to certain reasons that Tesco supported me with, has this clouded my view on the fact the company speaks one thing in terms of building a career but in reality it’s nowhere near?

I might be rambling but can I speak to anyone else? Can I facilitate a move to another region? Should I look at another company? Is this company spread or just a bad apple in a basket situation?

Advice please.

New to morrisons I work in the small convenience ones, basically long story short I’m concerned for the wellbeing but also the ability of my colleague to work, they are the store lead supervisor, and are running the shift basically, with me as a colleague.

This leader regularly comes in to work drunk, serves customers drink authorising sales of tobacco and alcohol drunk, doesn’t turn up for work in morning sometimes so the store is just closed for the day. I understand the company knows he is a “recovering alcoholic” which makes things difficult but I’ve also caught the leader stealing from lost property to just take home.

What the hell do I do? I don’t want to be involved in knowing somethings happening (I’m a terrible liar) but surely this is gross misconduct? If I report will he lose his job? I don’t want him to make himself worse.

Thanks in confidence in your responses

Any chance in rejoining?

Hi, just looking for advice on this subject, basically I was a CTM who was managed out of the business when my mother had a health scare which made me a temporary carer for 2-3months whilst something permanent was planned.

I was constantly pressured by the store manager (Sainsbury’s local) to what I felt was either leave the job or step down, long story short got into an argument with him which was on shop floor and both shouting at each other, I got put under investigation and eventually it all got too much and I quit after the investigation meeting felt heavily sided towards him doing nothing that led up to it, but before the disciplinary meeting took place, I raised a grievance against him in that time and he was suspended for two weeks for investigation but got his job back.

I’m now in a position where a new Sainsbury’s has opened near me, it’s in the north east which is about 200miles from where I use to work, so it’s unlikely to see anyone I use to work with, would I be able to apply? Or am being silly and know it will fail?

Any advice welcomed, be honest 😂

Update - I just got the courage to apply, and it’s been almost instantly declined I’m guessing it’s been flagged as “do not rehire”

Does that come off at all? Or is that just done now 💔
