CX Colleagues

I was told by my manager today that, from September, our Customer Experience department is apparently going to become Aldi/Lidl style.

The idea is that all CX colleagues will work on the shop floor, helping with deliveries, etc., and only open a checkout when a customer actually needs one.

Kiosk/Selfscan will obviously remain manned at all times.

Apparently there will also be no dedicated ‘Captain’ or ‘Runner’.

I have no idea if this is 100% confirmed or not.

Thoughts?

Not allowed to see CCTV before a disclipinary

I have an upcoming disciplinary concerning how I spoke to someone in store. The complaint used the word "aggressive" to describe how I acted. I've already said what I said was unprofessional but don't believe I was aggressive in the manner that is being made out.

I have asked to see the CCTV but have been told by my manager that it is not relevant, they have viewed the CCTV and it is not being used as evidence by them. They have also said that it has been deleted as the incident was over 30 days ago.

Can I complain about this and say it's unfair I can't use it to defend myself?

Driver Facing Cameras

So at our store with around 100 drivers, all of the regular vans now have the cameras and the 2 week grace period is over.

Rightfully so, three drivers have been flagged for holding either their phone or handset in their hand while driving.

However, cut to me today getting pulled over by my manager for drowsiness. The videos shown to me highlighted three videos of me yawning (at 7am this morning) and three of me just moving around in the seat a bit, because I wasn’t comfortable.

It was also marked as wet roads, of which there was only the slightest bit of rain last night.

My main annoyance is how is this helpful to keep drivers safe - which is what we were told the cameras are for. I got told to park safely, get out the van and walk around for two minutes, or drive with windows down to counteract this.

To make this even better, the manager that walked me through this yawned 3 times while showing me the clips.

Trading Assistant Interview

Hi there everyone, I've got an interview for a trading assistant role next week and I've been researching a bit about the interview and what to prepare for. Besides being in a smart attire (will be going in black plain shirt with tie and black trousers), what else should I prepare for? Any other tips? I've had 2 interviews before at the same store but for different roles (online assistant and service assistant I think) but was not successful, however the person supposed to be interviewing me is a different person than before, don't know if it would have any affect on the application?

Flexi contracts

Ive been at sainsburys 5 years and have a contract where I work set days, so every other weekend and a couple of days in the week. Ive noticed we have some new starters, who dont work set days. When I asked them they said they dont have contracted days, is this going to become a thing where people are expected to be flexible and only get 1 weeks notice of what they re working. I have commitments outside of work and dont know how you re meant to live your life like this

Temporary summer contract coming to an end

Sainsbury’s temporary contract coming to an end in two weeks ( August 31st) and I’ve just looked at my schedule on UKG pro and I’m not scheduled for after August and I have 3 weeks of work in advance. There’s a permanent staff member that has come back and they’re hiring a new staff member, I currently work night shifts and usually they run out of stuff to give me during the end so just tell me to clean up the shelves. Are these signs that I won’t get an extension? Not sure when to ask my manager and I did have to call in sick once but I went on the next day and they saw I was ill. Not sure what to do, any advice currently work nights on a 12 hour contract.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Basically have to get my wisdom teeth out and it falls on a day where I work, I’ve been granted that day as medical but the following day they’ve taken it as holiday - I’m getting put under general anaesthetic and the dr has said I shouldn’t drive for 48 hrs(that’s how I get to work). Long story short, should both days be down as medical or do I have to take the second as holiday? Other people that have worked at my store longer said they got two days medical so just wondering:) thanks

Didn’t get the role, but they told me to call back about a temp position

I called sainsburys to follow up for an interview i had nearly 2 weeks ago and they told me the position I interviewed for has been filled. However, they said there should be a temporary role becoming available soon and asked me to call back tomorrow after 12 to discuss it.

Has anyone had something similar happen at Sainsbury’s? Does this mean they were impressed with my interview, or is this fairly common?

Leaving and holiday pay

Hi. I have been working at Sainsbury’s since around the middle of June this year on a 18.30 hour contract (night shift trading assistant) and when i joined I had been given 80 hours of holiday.

Before I joined I had pre booked holidays and so since being there I have taken 37 hours of that holiday (2 weeks off). I am choosing to leave the company as of next week (disliked every second of it sadly), and I presume the remaining holiday hours I have left (43 hours) will not be paid to me in my final pay. I get I am probably asking a silly question and this is not likely to be the case ha, but I am just trying to get my money situation in order.

Thanks in advance

Nightshift question

Have any other stores who have a nightshift had someone come in for an hour or so at the start of their shift to ask colleagues about what it's like working nights?

New Challenge

I’m starting university in September, im 19 almost 20, and I’m really keen to keep progressing alongside it rather than just staying comfortable in my current role at sainsburys so I’m considering applying for a Customer & Experience Manager position at another store that’s around an hour from my university, as I think it could be a great opportunity to challenge myself, take on more responsibility and progress within Sainsbury’s. I’m just looking for some advice from anyone who has experience in the role — how manageable do you find the workload, and what are the hours like? I’d also really appreciate hearing from anyone who has made a similar jump into management relatively early on and whether you think it’s worth going for.

Can I hold two separate Trading Assistant contracts at two different Sainsbury's branches?

Hi all, I currently work as a Trading Assistant at a Sainsbury's Local branch, on a part-time contract plus regular overtime. I'm looking to increase my overall hours over the next few months and I'm wondering if it's possible to take on a second, separate contract as a Trading Assistant at a different Sainsbury's branch? Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who's actually done this or knows the internal process. Thanks!

Becoming a CTM at your own store?

Hi, I’ve been at my local for over 3 years now and I was thinking of progressing from colleague as I need more hours and a higher salary. Is it possible to progress to a CTM from a colleague in the store you already work in? I believe one of our CTM’s is leaving at the end of the year so there will be a vacancy. Any advice is helpful thank you :)

Leaving without working notice

If I leave my job as a colleague without giving the 2 weeks notice , would I still be paid for my holiday hours? I’ve been working here since last July and I’m fed up with the horrible management at the store. I have 52 hours of holiday pay in my balance so would they be paid out to me in my final paycheck?

Investigation meeting - using unverified hearsay to influence against colleague

I had an investigation meeting for a claim of gross misconduct against me about how I spoke to another colleague.

The manager taking the investigation meeting brought up that he had spoken to two other colleagues who I work with but have nothing to do with the alleged incident. He said they had told him that I had spoken to them poorly and unprofessionally before but didnt want to put their name to any official statement for fear of repercussions.

Can I challenge this as unreasonable as it makes out I have a history of speaking to others in a bad manner and damages the impression of my character?

No colleague has ever formally or informally reported me before this incident and I have never been spoken to by a manager for my conduct in this manner.

FOA Help

I am new at my branch, and let me preface this by saying I have had no formal training, have had to google and look online on how the MAR, FOA system works. I shadowed an employee and got told procedurally how to complete it, but did not understand the system. After this, there were only two shifts. On the 1st the store manager lmk that FOA was updating so not to do FOA or subsequent MAR. Then on the 2nd one I was incredibly careful and followed instructions given to me: scan an item if there are 3 or less items on the shelf, and I was incredibly careful to match the shelf label to the item. Then I had my 4 week review, which I was incredibly nervous for as this is my first job. I got told my FOA % (dk what this is) is high and it needs to be under 10%. Furthermore, I had to shadow someone on my days off as apparently they do it really well. I get around 7-10 sheets of MAR to do at both the first satellite MAR and later MAR to do in 45 mins , and apparently this other person gets only 1-2 sheets. The manager was quite firm in saying this could not continue. I also asked to change shifts for university, but because I work weekends they straight up told me I do not need to because uni is on weekdays. After this, on RSS I realised I could check the history, and all of them in the last week had stats very similar to mine, with 10 ish pages of MAR. I would incredibly appreciate if someone could explain to me how to complete MAR, and as the shifts are very late and I have recently been diagnosed with a sleep disorder, I need to change them. Unfortunately I need funds for university so cannot leave. Thanks.
