Temporary summer contract coming to an end

Sainsbury’s temporary contract coming to an end in two weeks ( August 31st) and I’ve just looked at my schedule on UKG pro and I’m not scheduled for after August and I have 3 weeks of work in advance. There’s a permanent staff member that has come back and they’re hiring a new staff member, I currently work night shifts and usually they run out of stuff to give me during the end so just tell me to clean up the shelves. Are these signs that I won’t get an extension? Not sure when to ask my manager and I did have to call in sick once but I went on the next day and they saw I was ill. Not sure what to do, any advice currently work nights on a 12 hour contract.

Trying to rebuild myself after an awful time at school/Uni

Just finished my time in education after graduating about a month ago with a masters in astrophysics and managed to get a 2:2 (feel cheated out of this as I worked so hard for a 2:1, but this is a common thing in school/uni for me, the work I put in is never worth the effort) but I still feel awful about what I’ve had to put up with from the special ed exam room, spelling being picked apart while being bullied, feeling less than and isolating myself to deal with it all. I thought university would be better but it was worse at times with professors not understanding what I have to go through and peers using buddy check to mark me down unfairly, while academia it’s totally acceptable to do this.

I’m glad I’m out I had to deal with awful teachers and professors for the entire journey and it was borderline horrible to deal with and I went through some dark times in my life. I’m currently looking for a job to hopefully use the skills I have gotten but I need help building up my confidence again as it’s been shattered by the out dated uk academic system. I feel get really angry over how I’ve been treated and so glad I never have to deal with those vile people ever again.

Hopefully, looking at jumping at an engineering company but need help dealing with my time in school/uni because it’s damaged me a lot.

Contract coming to an end

Hello, my summer temp contract will end on August 31st so I’ve only got 3 weeks left there and I only started about a month ago. I just graduated just about a month ago aswell and Im currently looking around for a job to use my degree in but for the mean time I was happy to be offered a part time 12 hour contract at sianbsurys to pay for my driving lessons and hopefully my first car.

Here’s the issue my contract is coming to an end soon and none of my managers have said anything as of yet, there is more than me for temp staffing there is a couple but not sure if they’ll keep me on

What’s sianbsurys budget looking like for hours and do you think they’ll offer me something? Thanks

How many hours of driving lessons do you have a week?

Currently having 2 hours of lessons a week but I do find towards the end of those 2 hours the last 30 minutes is a struggle and I think it would be better if I shortened the lessons to 1.5 to an hour a week?

Do have my first hour driving lesson tomorrow and I’ll see how that goes but I think a shortened Driving lessons might work out better for me and make me less nervous before? How many hours of driving lessons did you guys do a week?

Changing to gain hours

Currently working at Sainsbury’s on a 12 hour contract doing hours 9pm until 1am, 3 times a week and while I’m happy with the money so far as it pays for driving lessons and saving up for my car, I’m finding myself bored at home for 4.5 days a week which I could be earning more. The issue is I don’t drive yet and rely on my parents to drop off and pick up at the moment so the hours can’t be stupidly early or late. Any ideas on where I could do more hours? Is there normally shifts I can cover or should I change my hours around slightly to have more?

Struggling in a manual

Had 4 hours currently on manual lessons and can’t get my head around the clutches and gears. I’ve got dyslexia and possible dyspraxia and my driving instructor suggested that I do automatic lessons as my driving is great but I struggle a lot with the clutch and this puts me further behind. She suggested that automatic would be better for me but it was up to me so doing manual is still an option but it’ll take longer and I’ll struggle. I’m also worried if I did do automatic lessons I would find it difficult to find a reasonable priced automatic car, any advice? Thanks

How do I make my career take off?

Graduated from uni in mid July 2026 and currently got a 12 hour contract in Sainsbury’s working a couple of nights that’ll pay for driving lessons and hopefully my first car. I don’t mind working there at the moment as I enjoy it and it goes me something to do but I’m worried with the current state of the job market I’ll be stuck there longer than I want to be and it was a nightmare just trying to get that job.

I’ve got a masters in astrophysics and achieved a 2:2, I know I could’ve done better but due to having a learning disability (dyslexia) that wasn’t supported I think I tried my best at the time.

I’ve tried grad schemes and that didn’t work ( I know it’s hard to get into) and currently looking at NATS in September to maybe explore evening an air traffic controller but the chances I’ll get through the stages re next to none.

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do with my degree with this current job market? Thanks

Anything would be appropriated as I feel a bit behind and a bit lost coming back home after university. I currently like my Sainsbury’s job as it’s only 12 hours a week covering the hours from 9pm until 7am.

Payslip error

Hey,
I worked Friday night midnight until 6am and Saturday night midnight until 6am, had my induction Friday for 3 hours then worked on the shop floor for 3 hours but my induction pay doesn’t. I know my Saturday pay will be on the next payslip as the cut off point is Saturday at midnight.

23 year old gay guy

Hey guys,
Wanted some help to know why Im so horny all of the time every day, don’t break one days break from it and I feel like I’m being controlled by my dick. Everything I see a hot straight guy I get horny even in job interviews when I don’t want to be. Any body hair, beards or muscles sets me off even if it’s a bit. Is this just normal at this age? I am trying to be more healthy with it and use it to my strength with weight lifting twice a week and cycling twice a week which helps. Any help would be appreciated :))

Every year it’s been getting more intense and Im not sure why I thought it would slow down after my teenage years but apparently not lol

Why is there is much negativity?

Why is there so much negativity surrounding dyslexia on here, I understand there are disadvantages that does make the time you spend at school and university genuinely awful but after you leave that part of life you can have more freedom.

I’d like to give two examples, my dad who is a firefighter who has dyslexia and has risen up the ranks extremely quickly and is one of the best people there at what he does, he struggled at lot at school. My uncle is an amazing software engineer who failed all of his GCSEs and now pulls in fat stacks of cash.

I also struggled at school and hated it but I’m about to graduate with an astrophysics masters degree.

You shouldn’t let dyslexia hold you back and realise the advantages it gives you, it’ll open doors in industry that you’ll excel at. Fuck the neurotypical’s that made life harder when I was younger though

Server full of bots?

Had the weirdest round in apex legends with most of the players were bots ran in straight lines and were easy to kill. Only a team of 2 and still managed to win the game.

Hello I’ve been trying to find a job with just about finishing my masters in astrophysics in June and will be graduating in July. I’ve applied to about 60/70 jobs and only gotten rejections from finance, engineering and other companies. I’ve applied to J P Morgan and nuclear companies and still waiting to hear back. I’ve gone to a Russell group university and am graduating with a 2:1 but worried about not getting any offers back. Does anyone have any good advice of what jobs I should be looking for or what I’m doing wrong. I’ve so far applied to about 3 jobs at J P Morgan chase a couple of days ago as it was advised against applying to anymore in Bournemouth (UK) which range from a trade analyst to loan trades.
