First Aid responsibilities?
I’m a First Aider, and within about five minutes of starting my shift today I was told by CSD that I was responsible for cleaning the customer toilets because someone had got faeces all over them.
I went to our Store Manager and tried to push back, but was told that it was my responsibility and “what I get paid extra for.”
If this had been directly related to a First Aid incident, I’d absolutely understand dealing with bodily fluids as part of that situation. But this wasn’t. The toilets had apparently been left like that for quite a while, and it only became “my responsibility” once I came in because I’m a First Aider.
I’m happy to carry out my actual First Aid responsibilities, including dealing with blood/bodily fluids where necessary during an incident, but I didn’t become a First Aider to be the designated person for cleaning faeces from customer toilets.
Has anyone else come across this..?
