AITH for asking my girlfriend to start contributing to groceries after she’s been eating at my place almost every day?

I have been dating my girlfriend (27F) for about 8 months. We don’t live together, but she’s at my apartment a lot like 5–6 days a week.

At first it was just dinner here and there, which I didn’t mind. But over time it kind of turned into her eating most of her meals at my place, using my groceries, coffee, snacks, etc. She also sometimes stays over multiple nights in a row.

I never really brought it up because I didn’t want it to feel transactional, but lately I’ve been noticing my grocery bills have basically doubled.

A few days ago I casually asked if she’d be open to splitting groceries or just picking up a few things when she’s over more often. She got kind of quiet and said it made her feel like I was keeping score in the relationship.

Now she’s been a bit distant and said she needs time to think about how I view us.

I’m not trying to nickel and dime her, but I also feel like it’s fair to expect some contribution if she’s basically living part-time at my place.

AITH?
