Hi. First time poster. I was trying to get my golf running again (I'm the first and only owner) and realized I didn't think I had the time to replace the fuel pump myself. (I realize now that it's a pretty easy job and should have done it myself.)

I think my mechanic screwed up and pried the fuel pump out without twisting it to unlock it and now the ring bracket that is plastic welded to the bottom of the plastic tank is broken.

The plastic ring bracket is bent on one side, so it's obvious (to me) that the mechanic just pulled it out and didn't think to twist it.

Is there anything I can do short of replacing the whole tank?

If I need to replace the tank, where should I look? My local junkyards don't have any MK3 2 doors. Can I just pull a tank from a Jetta?

Engine code is ABA. 1998 GTI 2.0L (USDM, Automatic transmission)
