To our Melbourne friends we met hiking Kata Tjuṯa at sunrise and returned with our guide to find the van broken down in the parking lot. You were all SO lovely and I am an imbecile for not sharing contact information. Your son plays in the AFL for the Dogs and we will now be devoted fans of the Dogs. AFL is the best sport one can watch and it is now an obsession. Hope to find you all again someday.
Brisbane, you are home to two of the greatest individuals in the solar system. Take care of them for us please. They recently moved from Perth to your city and are Australian through and through. We love you both dearly and miss you and your new fantastic city.
Also Brisbane, any of you care to share a recipe for the tomato relish/ jam that is served with avocado toast? Cannot even look at breakfast and really have abandoned it all together.
Sydney, you’re a show off and your Harbour really cannot be described and must be experienced to fully understand the grandeur. Wish your ferries were the price of Brisbane’s but I digress…
The walk from Bondi to Coogee with the swimming areas and the cafes and the everything. Your city, your food, your coffee. The Blue Mountains indescribable. My God, I’ll forever be jealous.
In grade five, I lived in rural USA and chose to report about Ayers Rock/ Uluṟu. The other kids made fun of me, told me it wasn’t real. Had to bring in the Britannica to prove them wrong. This was before the internet. Seeing it in person was beyond words and a dream come true. To the people who spend their lives working at the resort, guiding tours and living in the area thank you. Thank you for hosting us on your lands, thank you for everything.
Aus the different multicultural foods you have at your fingertips! Holy smokes it is fantastic. Did not expect so many culinary delights. Knew it was good food down there but the level of freshness and diverse options blew my socks off. A toastie with Indonesian noodles, cheese, an egg and that sauce. My goodness so so good.
There’s just so much to say and it’s getting late here.
AUSTRALIA you are MAGICAL. You have it figured out. Be kind to one another and take care of yourselves.
One can only hope they are lucky enough to return at some point and to experience more.
