I had LIS surgery for a chronic anal fissure in Feb 2025. I am so thankful for that surgery. It did end up infected and a fistula formed. I had fistula surgery in May 2025 and it seems like everything healed okay…with the exception of some granulation tissue where the initial fistula hole was. I was skeptical about this and opted for a second opinion to see if the fistula healed properly.
Before I was able to have the exam under anesthesia I became pregnant again.
My question is-has anyone given birth naturally after this surgery? I have talked with the OB about a c-section. Both of the CRS I have seen highly suggest it to prevent further sphincter tearing.
I am just scared of having my insides sliced open in such a dramatic fashion.
I did not heal properly after a simple LIS surgery. It makes me not very confident about healing from such a major surgery as a c-section.
