The Big Picture - WOW!

I’ve been listening through each of EJ’s albums for several weeks now - today’s was The Big Picture, and man what an album!

Elton’s voice sounds very assured and powerful, the melodies are fun and buoyant, and there are several great songs.

Of course, Something… is known as the big hit from this record, but If The River Can Bend, A Long Way From Happiness, and the title track are all very strong also. Even deep cuts like January and Wicked Dreams are entertaining and very listenable

What does everyone else think of TBP? 😁

The Fox

Favourites from, and thoughts on, The Fox?

Another MOR album for me, but I do prefer it to 21 @ 33

Just Like Belgium and Breaking Down Barriers are 2 catchy pop-style tracks, Nobody Wins a great synth-led track and Elton’s Song is one of EJ’s best ballads/emotional songs, his vocals are outstanding!

Thoughts on 21 At 33?

For me the first 4 tracks are solid, with Sartorial Eloquence the pick of the bunch, but the rest are uninteresting and pretty bad!

A Single Man

Thoughts on ‘A Single Man’?

For me it’s amother very mixed album - Part Time Love is my favourite track, also like Shine On Through, It Ain’t Gonna Be Easy, and Return to Paradise.

Big Dipper is an atrocious song, and the 2nd half of the album is pretty poor compared to the 1st IMO.

All Over Again - what an outstanding ’farewell’ from Christine, fantastic vocals and a really nice melody, a highlight of a very ’low’ period generally for the band
