Son is a newly married college student. Advice on finances, please?
My son is a newly married college student (21M), rising junior. Wife (19F) is taking some classes remotely, but might start at the same university.
I pay for college, tuition and fees and he’s on my medical/dental. They married after the FAFSA deadline, and weren’t eligible before so no help there.
They’re going to be responsible for their own bills. Insurance, phones, internet, etc. They have a decent car (no payments) and have a small studio apartment, $750 per mo. + utils.
Wife is going to work and support them, but it’s going to be tough. They’re trying to avoid having him work so he can finish strong and get a good job. Then it’s his turn to support her in her goals. He/they are totally open to gig work, and have had some success thrifting and reselling.
What advice would you give them?
