A brand new trilogy run, help me decide! (Yeah, one of those.)

Heya good folks!

Sometimes you're just itching for a new trilogy run, and it's been brewing. The thing is, I've never actually FINISHED a full. Shameful, I know. I've been playing this for 20 years on and off, but never reached that pinnacle.

But I feel this is the one, delusional it may be. Problem is, the choice for the MC class is paralyzing me. I'm not really one for finicky or gimmicky stuff. A bit of complexity is fine though. Always was a bit wary of dual-classing because of the downtime, don't know how warranted that is.

My most recent runs in the last few years were a fighter/mage multiclass and a berserker. They bith stranded somewhere in BG2. Not because I didn't like them, life just got in the way and I never resumed.

I also like classes that are at least *somewhat* viable all the way through, not something that comes online halfway through BG2, if that makes sense. I also don't really care about the role in the party, I know you can fill any gap with whichever companion anyway. I also don't mind a bit of modding or tweaking to make something more viable.

Classes that crossed my mind:

- sorcerer: I think I've got enough knowledge to pick the most useful spells

- cavalier/inquisitor: the lawful good fantasy

- blade: fill any gap. Not the best at everything, but cool powerspikes

- archer: master of BG1 and part of BG2, but online consensus is that it falls off?

- shapeshifter: probably needs some tweaking via mod

Or whatever really, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
