Sometimes when I'm in a music rut I like to go on AOTY and have a little browse to see if I can find anything new to listen to, however the other day I realised I've never actually found anything I like on the website, now if you sort by user and go through let's say the top albums of the year, it all seems to be very strange, artsy, fringe stuff that gets rated very highly and most of the albums I listen to dont have much musicality or real substance to them, I feel like the people rating and reviewing these albums are 18 year old stoners who think weird and artsy equals good. Just browse the top albums of this year its all "atmospheric sludge metal" "avant garde rock" "noise rock" and my least favourite "experimental hip hop" wheres the conventional and musically sound albums these days? Every damn album i listen to on that site sounds like im 14 and this is deep
