Face shaving and loss of whiskers.

My new best friend, a three year-old miniature poodle named Lucy came to me with her face shaved. I've had her almost 2 weeks now and the whiskers are starting to grow back and it made me wonder… Aren't whiskers important for dogs to have? Or is that for cats and naked mole rats and so forth who need them far more than a poodle might?

Kirkland beef and rice kibble.

NUTRA-NUGGETS. My new (adult)Poodle came with a HUGE amount of Costco's dog food. My first inclination is to replace it with something "better" but her coat is shiny, her weight is perfect according to the vet and most tellingly her stools are the healthiest stools I've ever seen in a dog. I'm wondering if you folks have opinions on this particular kibble?

To Grain or not to Grain, that is the question!

I am a new dog owner after a break of about five years. Lots of experience with standard poodles and just adopted a three-year-old mini poodle. I guess the science is always changing on what dogs should and should not eat, and I was shocked when my new vet told me at my dogs first wellness exam that grains were back in and the 'no grain' thing had been a marketing fad and was actually killing dogs! She says it's important that dogs have grains. This seems like such an insane reversal to me that I just laughed. Wondering what the opinions were of you folks!

Just adopted a Poodle!

I am very happy! We have a good history with standard poodles and now that we are older and retired wanted to get another one but concerned a standard would be too big for us and found this wonderful three-year-old miniature poodle named Lucy already spayed in good health and a super sweet disposition. She's been with us a week and we are getting to know each other! Just got her fully vetted and other than dealing with Giardia (with no symptoms) she is in good health, thank God. I was worried she might have Heartworms as she has never been on preventative but that test came back negative. Very sweet girl! We are in Louisville Kentucky
