People care too much about their undergraduate institutions

I'll confess it: I am chronically online. Nonetheless, I've seen several a post in my day where grown-ass adults feel the need to shit on public colleges and universities in favor of other schools (often ones that they did not attend). I don't get it. Sure, the plural of anecdote isn't data, but it's weird how people shill for these billion dollar entities to which they often either owe thousands (can you tell this is an American perspective?) or never even attended. Disparities in education "quality" are often quite overblown and reflective of biased outcomes (the rich people who disproportionately attend high ranking schools tend to stay rich). In actuality, accreditation policies ensure that departments teach roughly the same content and often use the same textbooks. Does anyone remember the Varsity Blues scandal? Those kids did well enough after they got in; it would seem like the biggest challenge offered by top American schools is simply being admitted. Anyhoo, adieu. If you want to see what I mean, go to the sub for your state's premier school and ask if you should attend that school for half price or some random bottom half school (in the same state) or any school in West Virginia, and you will see comments urging you take on thousands in debt to go to the school that paid U.S. News for a high ranking. Ciao.

Mechanisms of Mitigating Unpleasant Smells During Tissue Extraction?

Hi, fellow lab enthusiasts. I'm new to lab work, but the lab I'm currently at does a lot of animal tissue extractions. The smell is atrocious. Does anyone have tips to make the experience less aromatically wretched? I've been thinking about taping an herbal tea bag inside a face mask (almost like a plague doc), but I'm curious to see how others are addressing this (if at all). By the end of a round of extractions (e.g., subject #20), I usually have a heck of a headache from the smell, and it feels like I'm going to puke. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

Update: I've decided to conduct two trials using Vicks Vaporub applied to my nostrils and either a concentrated or diluted mint oil (depending on pre-trial reaction to scent intensity) applied to a standard facemask, evaluating each by the intensity of nausea post-extraction. Grammatically speaking, my post might have been better titled, "Methods to Mitigate..." Thanks, everyone; this has been bothering me since Thursday.
