Made it to Champion Tier with Gravity
Reached Champion Tier doubles with this team. I used some variation of it for the entire season, with the Heliolisk slot changing the most.
The primary game plan is simple: use Gravity boosted sleep support to create openings for Maushold and Mega Gallade to sweep. For the unfamiliar, Gravity makes Hypnosis 100% accurate, Population Bomb hit 10 times, and opposing Garchomps OHKO their Mega Charizard Y with Earthquake.
Maushold
The inspiration for the team. Population Bomb is absurd when all 10 hits connect, and it OHKOs almost everything that doesn't resist it. Also provides good support with Follow Me and Encore.
Sableye
The best Gravity setter I found. Instead of screens, I doubled down on disruption with Fake Out, Encore, and Disable. I actually prefer it going down after setting Gravity for a free switch, hence no Roseli Berry.
Mega Gallade
Pairs naturally with Maushold by covering the Steel, Rock, and Ghost types that wall the mice. Also provides clutch Hypnosis support and reliably OHKOs Kingambit, even through Chople Berry.
Gengar
Usually the lead alongside Sableye. Its job is to establish favorable board states for the sweepers. It often goes down early, but landing even just 1 hypnosis is often enough. It's more of a support piece than a damage dealer.
Espathra
My main speed control option. Speed Boost and Hypnosis let it pressure faster teams, while Sunny Day is a fun tech choice against rain.
Heliolisk
Mainly added to help against rain teams and Basculegion. Weather Ball + Sunny Day (from Espathra) gives it strong Fire coverage, and Focus Blast helps round out its coverage. Charcoal helps it OHKO Kingambit. Honestly, Basculegion would probably be better, but I refuse to cave to the meta.
Really fun team, especially if you like to watch your opponent do nothing but protect for 5 turns.
RNG is definitely part of the package, and sometimes multiple one-turn wake-ups happen and everything falls apart. But when the engine gets rolling, the team feels incredibly satisfying to pilot.
