Fairly unique situation, looking for input.
So I own multiple lots on a privately owned and maintained (by me) gravel road. I’ve been entertaining the idea of replacing my current lawn mower with something that would get it done faster. Currently I have a Cub Cadet XT1 LT-50 that we bought when we first moved to our house and only owned the small green lot. Since then we have expanded and have the multiple lots that we need to maintain. My main concern are the lots outlined in green (my house) and red (the house that we bought for my mother in law), the others are empty lots that came with the package deal when we bought them (the houses in the picture have been sold and moved). Most of them are overgrown and I cut them with my tractors rotary cutter once or twice a year. The blue lot is the lot that our community well is located and is owned by us. We are in the process of clearing that rolling it into my lawn. There’s just a lot of blackberry and sumac in there that I’m fighting and need to get the time to tear all the roots out and grade everything so I can plant grass. My goal is to eventually finish clearing the other lots and restore them to lawns so that my sons can put in their own homes when the time comes but that’s not going to be for a long while.
I had the idea that maybe a robotic mower would be a good investment because it would open up a lot of extra time for me to focus on other tasks and projects around the property. My question to you all is: Is there a mower that can handle such a large area and use the road to travel between the lots where necessary. My other issue is that the entire neighborhood is on one side of a large hill and there are spots in the yards that can get up to a 35 degree slope, which is part of the reason it takes so long to get everything done. If anyone has any suggestions about where I should start looking into robotic mowers, or any other advice I’d really appreciate it. I’d rather spend more on a single system that can handle it all versus buying multiple systems to service the different lawns. If that ends up being my only option, so be it, but I’m just not aware of the systems available or their limitations. Thanks for your time!
