Trying to rationalise it…
It has been 11h but I can’t stop shaking the feeling that this is the calm before the storm…
I was using an app named Bottled and I connected with this person and stupidly I gave them my insta. My usual reply is that I don’t have one but I must have had a brain fart at that moment to give it away. I’ve always had it private so I thought oh well worst case scenario I’ll just block the person when they try to add me and move on.
The conversation continued and the person tried to jump to telegram, signal and so on. I always replied I did not use those apps. But after talking for awhile I ended up installing this app named Zangi.
They asked for my photo so I just sent the one that I had on Bottled. And then they sent a selfie and I also sent one. The conversation continued normally and along the way it turned into the usual. I sent two videos of my private area but with no face. They send stuff too, in retrospective I think the photos they used were of another victim too.
Due to a gathering I had, I ended up not paying too much attention to that person throughout the night. They tried to call me once and I was like wtf and deleted the Zangi app so they wouldn’t bother me.
Stupidly, I contact them on bottled and said I was busy and that I couldn’t use Zangi because I forgot my credentials and I had to create a new one. I shared the new one with them. They kinda stop replying so I assumed they went to sleep and I did the same.
Fast forward to this morning, we started chatting on Zangi again. The convo was normal at first but suddenly they sent me a collage, awfully made it looked like done by a child in ms paint… with my face, my private areas, my instagram username on top and something like sexual harassment.
I immediately panicked! I know that After that they sent a bunch of text and then two screenshots of what looked like WhatsApp and one of them was from a friend and another for a person I did not recognise but honestly i didn’t really processed it because I instantly blocked and report the account on Zangi, deleted my Zangi account, blocked and reported on Bottled and deleted my account and then proceeded to have all my social media accounts deleted. Or any account I could find of anything connected to my name or to that instagram username or any variation of it.
So now I’m here trying to rationalise everything…
- I was shaking so I just glanced at the messages I remember the ruin my life and go viral and the countdown… but I don’t even remember if they asked for money…
- If I blocked any type of way of them communicating, won’t they just out of spite send it to those two people they sent me a screenshot of ?
- I never gave them my phone number and all my accounts were private and kinda lacking of personal details besides my name, how did they manage to link those two people to me ? Apps like sync.me came to mind but i didn’t gave my phone number…
So far everything has been quite but I’m afraid they try to contact my family or anyone at work…
I really feel like this is the calm before the storm and that this will explode in my face somehow…
