MS mobility question: wheelchair or scooter for very limited walking?

Hi everyone.
I would really appreciate advice from people who have experience with mobility aids.

I have multiple sclerosis. Right now I walk with a cane, but my walking speed and endurance became very limited. Realistically, I can walk about 500 meters in an hour, and after that I’m exhausted.

I’m starting to understand that I probably need some kind of mobility aid for longer distances and daily life outside home, but I honestly don’t know what would fit better:

  • a manual/electric wheelchair or
  • a mobility scooter.

I would love to hear from people who had to make a similar decision.

I still can walk short distances, so I’m somewhere “between” walking and needing full-time mobility support, and that makes the decision emotionally confusing too.

Any experiences or advice would really help. Thank you.
