Are there wheelchair friendly mixed use apartment complexes?

We own a home in the burbs in Raleigh, but after becoming suddenly disabled and now having a limited amount of time left to enjoy my body, i am wanting to sell the house and rent an apartment in a mixed use community where I can get around independently.

Looking for

First floor or elevator accessible apartment that has 2-3 bedrooms. Could also be townhouse as long as there's a bedroom and full bath on the first floor since stairs are out of the equation for me b

Indoor pool (outdoor ones are super dangerous for me)

Playground for the children who are otherwise locked in the house with me all the time.

Very very walkable (meaning right outside) that has food/grocery or market/coffee water features preferred.

I don't have a location specifically in mind. Could be Garner, Raleigh, or Cary. I just really can't keep living totally homebound. My husband works 60+ hours a week and the kids are very young and they're so bored all the time. I am going insane. I need to be able to see other people, have some kind of indepent life in my chair, and for my kids to be around other people.

I love live music and noise so i am not concerned about bars and restaurants making things loud.

I just don't want to keep living in seclusion in the suburbs just because I'm too disabled to drive.

I would *love * a near by lake, but totally understand if that's not manageable.

Would love to hear from other disabled people about your experiences in these kind of communities, and which ones you've visited or lived at.
