Just wanted to offer some advice here because I feel stupid for not thinking about it before

I had a UTI about 2 weeks ago, medicated with antibiotics for it. Then randomly it's bloody come back - yey!

Not to be TMI but my main problem is it's too uncomfortable to sit, walk, stand - anything! The only relief is sitting on the toilet (not comfortable or practical) or being in the shower.

Today I had a genius moment that may help someone else. If like me, your bladder is literally empty with only a few drops that would not soil bedding etc - try this. I took a towel I didn't care about and wet it slightly with some cool water and was able to keep that on the area. I figured if I need to open my bladder or whatever it is that makes the toilet give me some relief, I don't care about the towel so I'll just chuck it out.

Obviously it's not going to be practical or cost effective to go through multiple towels so a disinfectant long boil wash would also be an option but it gave me relief and I was actually able to get some sleep without worrying I was going to have an accident and the fact I'd resigned to just getting rid of the towel or boil washing it helped me switch off from the fear of something happening when I tried to lie down. It was honestly as close to heaven as one could be in whilst in the grips of a UTI

Good luck UTI warriors

Taper - day 2...

Hi all, I have always had an issue with alcohol and I was on a a 2 week vacation which naturally led to more drinking than normal. On return, I then went on another 1 week vacation.

2 weeks ago I contracted a UTI probably from a pool. That was rouuuuuugh going for a few days. It felt like I had the worst hangover of my life mixed with the most uncomfortable painful symptoms.

Since the UTI which has now returned (lovely for me) I've had a lack of appetite but didn't slow down my drinking. This has led to obviously vomiting, shaking and feeling generally absolutely disgusting. But what it has shown me is how I am actually dependent.

I started a taper yesterday - switched spirits for cider. I plan on doing the same today, but only having 2/3.

Taking all the multivitamins and hydration sachets known to man and I'm hoping I can get to zero by the weekend. Withdrawl not too bad today at all, slight shakiness this morning but in all honesty that could also be the UTI and being dehydrated and not eating enough - I generally don't get shakey too bad unless I haven't been eating right - so it's more of a combination thing. I've had a banana and half of a chicken wrap today so that is progress!

Just wanted to chat to someone about this! Any advice or help please do let me know!

Thanks for being a great community
