My dog i think id having allergies
My dog keeps having allergic reactions to grass/possibly snow mold — need advice on managing it without a vet visit right now
My dog is a Dogo Argentino x Pitbull mix, she's white coated and every time she goes outside and gets into the grass she has a reaction. Symptoms are sneezing, red eyes, red skin, excessive salivating, and she constantly rubs her nose on everything. She also eats the grass sometimes which seems to make things worse — after she does that her throat stays irritated for a good while after. When I keep her inside and away from the grass she gets better within a day or two.
I'm in northern Alberta so snow mold is a real possibility this time of year.
I picked up some Benadryl (plain diphenhydramine) and was going to try dosing her at 1mg per pound but wanted confirmation on that before I give it to her. She's roughly 90 lbs.
Is this likely environmental allergies? Any advice on managing this at home in the short term? Are there any OTC options I should know about?
