Red, irritated area on previously healed foot blister
Hi, I’d like to ask for an opinion.
About a month ago, I had an open blister on the sole/side of my foot. It seemed to be healing slowly: the skin was still thinner and more delicate, but it didn’t look particularly inflamed.
Two days ago I went to the beach, and after sand, salt water, and walking, the area ended up looking like it does in the photo: red and irritated. I’ve noticed that the inflammation seems to be limited only to the area where the blister used to be, where the skin was still more fragile and less thick.
I’m wondering: could this simply be irritation/friction on new skin, or could it be an infection or another skin reaction?
I haven’t noticed any pus, but the area is inflamed, thickened, and has a burning sensation.
