Upcycling and mending social enterprise run by newcomer moms now at St. Jacobs
Check out the lovely Basadi Sewing If prolonging the life of your clothing and supporting a social enterprise that employs newcomer moms is your cup of tea,. They started a booth at the St. Jacob's Farmers Market and they offer on-site mending, alterations, and up-cycling of apparel items. They offer sewing classes and workshops too.
I recently had a bridesmaid dress altered from them and the turnaround time and quality were awesome. I have my dad's old sweatshirt I wear constantly that I'm about to bring to them for a mending project. I'm going to have them fill all the holes with his old flannels. They're a great group of women who love reducing waste by keeping old clothes out of landfills.
Thought I'd share this cool initiative.
