Rubber bands ???

Rubber bands ???

This may be dumb but I relaxed my hair about a year ago. Those ends are not going to hold and they refuse to manipulate at all. I'm starting with braids as I like the braid pattern and uniqueness in general. I've heard the biggest issue with locing up and adding bands is them conforming into the loc or making it so anything below the band doesn't loc up. Is it cool to leave them at the ends if the overall goal is to cut it off anyway so unraveling isn't a pressing issue. I grew my hair out for a year after a big chop, and then got a relaxer last April. My hair grows fast so I'm not overly worried about length since each area has a bit of a different point where the hair just becomes stiff and dry and unwilling to cooperate. I just want to make sure I'm not being dumb. And that this makes sense.
