Latrobe dentistry

I’m currently a first year Health Sciences student at La Trobe University and I graduated in 2025 with an 87 ATAR. At the time I honestly wasn’t fully sure what I wanted to do, so I decided to start in Health Sciences and figure things out from there.
Over this semester I’ve realised I’m really interested in Dentistry and I’ve been looking into the La Trobe Dentistry pathway/transfer through VTAC since from what I understand it mainly looks at university GPA/WAM rather than UCAT or GAMSAT.
I know it’s extremely competitive, especially because I’m not rural/regional, so I just wanted to ask anyone who’s gone through the pathway, applying kr knows anything about it:
Realistically, what kind of WAM/GPA would I need to be competitive as a metro applicant?
Is there any “safe” range where people usually get offers?
Are there specific electives/majors/subjects that help more for Dentistry applications?
Do they care more about anatomy/physiology type subjects?
Is Health Sciences still a good degree for the pathway or is Biomed looked at more favourably?
Also, if anyone transferred after first year, how did the VTAC process work exactly?

Thanks

Currently doing the core subjects the degree requires though and gonna pick some more health related electives.
