Faxon FX7 initial impressions
Wanted to try out some of the newer sub 1000 dollar barreled action options on the market and got myself an FX7 6.5 creed with m24 profile barrel.
Build as pictured:
FX7 24 inch 6.5 creed M24 barrel
Triggertech special 2 stage (currently set to 2 pounds)
Vortex Pro Rings Medium height (1.100)
Match Pro ED 5-30
Atlas BT65 (currently on picatinny because that's what I had laying around, ARMS17 adapter is still in the mail for arca mounting)
Aero Precision Competition Chassis
Keymount and Nomad 30 because I haven't decided what can will live on this setup yet
Initial impressions are ok but I 100% understand why some wholesalers are selling them for so cheap (I picked mine up for like 960 and I've some SKUs as low as 756).
When I got it, bolting forward was a little rough like it was catching on something in the receiver. That turned out to be a leading edge on the bolt body snagging on the rear of the action. After working the bolt for a couple of day it smoothed out entirely and hasn't been a problem again.
Bolt lift is light and smooth and overall no complaints about the ergos on the knob.
The extractor spring this came with was ridiculously weak. It felt like a spring from a ball point pen and when I initially took it to the range refused to extract anything (cases would pop out prematurely from the extractor and I'd need to tip them out of the gun). I got frustrated with the shitty extraction so I never even attempted to group it.
Swapped in a spring from some spare AR parts I had laying around and it's flawless now, will go back to the range when I can to put it to paper.
