This update makes Apple Calendar and Reminders easier to set up, improves Project Databases and Custom Fields, and includes a number of smaller fixes and improvements across the app.

We kept running into the same problem.

The work was organised, but understanding the full picture still meant opening several different places and piecing the context back together.

Everything was technically organised, but the context was scattered.

The task did not know about the client behind it. The project plan was separate from the time already spent. Notes, files and workflows each held another part of the picture.

That frustration became the idea behind PrimeTask.

After seeing what powerful enterprise tools could do, we wanted that same depth and capability for ourselves and anyone who wanted it, without the enterprise cost or complexity.

That is what we set out to create with PrimeTask: a powerful, local-first desktop workspace where projects, tasks, notes, files, contacts, time and workflows stay connected, with powerful automations, BYO AI and MCP integration.

After many months of working with beta users, we launched the macOS version this week.

Over the past few months, we’ve shared project databases, CRM, PrimeFlow, automatic time tracking and many of the features that now make up PrimeTask.

Now it’s all available in one place.

PrimeTask is live for macOS with a 14-day trial.

It’s built for freelancers, consultants, creators, founders and small businesses who want tasks, projects, databases, CRM, visual workflows, time tracking and automations in one connected, local-first desktop workspace.

This is a soft launch, so we’ll be listening closely, fixing what needs fixing and improving PrimeTask as more people start using it.

If a task has tracked time, PrimeFlow shows it where the work lives.

Tasks show their own time.

Groups show the tracked time of the tasks inside them.

Move a task in or out, and the total follows.

Hover the badge to see where the number came from: timer sessions, Focus Mode sessions, recent work and last activity.

Overdue and soon-due work stands out too.

So PrimeFlow no longer only shows how the work connects.

It shows what the work is taking in time.

A few recent comments got me thinking about this again. Then the physical vs digital games discussion came up, and it hit the same nerve.

Funny how the ownership argument keeps showing up in different places.

Games are having the physical vs digital debate again.

Software has already been through its own version of this: subscriptions, cloud-only access, tools you keep paying for, and platforms that can change the rules later.

At some point people notice the trade-off:

convenience is nice, until access becomes the product.

That is one of the reasons we are building PrimeTask local-first, with a one-time purchase model.

Not because cloud is always bad.
Not because subscriptions are always evil.

But because some work is too important to feel rented.

Honestly, this one means a lot.

Some of you have been here since the early beta, through broken builds, weird bugs, rough edges, and all the little decisions that only became obvious once people actually started using the app.

So first of all: thank you.

PrimeTask looks very different now than it did at the start, and that is because of this community. You tested things, broke things, questioned decisions, pushed back, encouraged us, and pointed out when something did not feel right.

Some of that feedback was hard to hear at times, but a lot of it was also really encouraging and helped shape the product.

1.0 is our first stable release. It does not mean PrimeTask is finished. It just means it is ready to be used properly, not just tested.

This version includes PrimeTime, our automatic time tracking feature that captures your work sessions without needing to start a timer.

You work.
PrimeTask captures the session.
Later, you decide what it belongs to.
