TLDR below.
I'm 35m, and I recently restarted after a 3-year gap. I've been playing 6v6 twice every week, and finding my feet again. It's fun!
Although I'm not fast, I am strong and can pass the ball around when I play defence. But sometimes I make mistakes - just like others do.
But there is this one guy (about my age) who gets pissed off when I make mistakes.
The worst part is, he's not great himself. His first touches, dribbling, and passing are noob-ish.
But he has the gall to call me "blind" and even dole out his post-match "two cents".
I hate confrontations in football, especially when it's a Monday evening, 1-hour kick-about. For me, and many others, football is just an escape from the mundane weekly corporate life.
After the match, he comes and gives me advice on how to play.
He insisted I listen to him.
Apparently, he "wasn't trying to demotivate me"; he was "trying to improve my playing style".
So, I told him, "Thanks, I'll remember that." But he kept on rambling about me being lazy and slow.
I nodded my head and walked away.
This whole situation has gotten under my skin, and I feel like he needs to be told off.
If he is told off, he could get confrontational.
However, I reckon, if not, he will keep doing this to me, or others who come to play.
What should I do?
TLDR: Annoying, know-it-all, amateur player who gets pissed off and gives me unsolicited advice when he himself is a noob.
Should I tell him to STFU or let it pass?
