Need help diagnosing weird rattle while accelerating / maintaining speed on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sport S (no engine codes)

Hey everyone, I’m trying to figure out a strange rattle/noise coming from my 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sport S and I’m hoping someone here has experienced something similar.

The issue happens mostly when I’m lightly accelerating or trying to maintain speed/cruise. It sounds like a rattling or vibrating noise. The weird part is that if I press the gas pedal down hard and accelerate aggressively, the rattle completely goes away.

A few more details:

  • 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sport S
  • No check engine light
  • Scanned the vehicle and there are NO engine codes stored
  • Noise seems load/throttle dependent
  • Happens under light to medium throttle
  • Goes away under heavy throttle/WOT
  • Vehicle still drives normally otherwise
  • No noticeable loss of power
  • No misfire codes
  • No abnormal idle

I attached a video so you can hear the exact sound because it’s hard to describe through text alone.

Things I’m wondering about:

  • Heat shield rattle?
  • Exhaust issue?
  • Timing/VVT related?
  • Torque converter/transmission issue?
  • Engine ping/detonation?
  • Loose catalytic converter internals?
  • Driveshaft/U-joint vibration?

I’d appreciate any ideas on what I should check first or if anyone has had this exact symptom before. Trying to narrow it down before I start throwing parts at it.

Thanks in advance.
