2019 Crosstrek Squeak Noise
I have a 2019 Crosstrek (91k miles). I purchased it 3 years ago. About two weeks ago I was on a trip and started to hear a squeaking noise of sorts coming from the rear, driver's side wheel. It has only occurred intermittently since. However today I started hearing it again. Below is a description of the conditons:
Initial Trip:
2 hour drive, backroads, dry conditions.
Squeaking heard
Return Trip:
2 hour drive, highway, wet conditions.
No squeaking.
Since then I only heard it generally when backing into my driveway. Today I made a 1.5 hour highway trip in dry conditions and heard it again when I arrived at my destination. I haven't had the chance to pull the wheel but I do see some rust when looking in at the disc area. Is it correct to assume this is the brakes wearing and will need to be changed, or is it possible I am looking at a larger issue? I haven't changed the brakes since I've had it and probably put about 40k miles on.
I have a few more Highway trips over the next few days. Earliest I can get a deeper look is early next week. Don't want to create more chaos than needed.
