Anyone from 1year pg history?
Same as the title.
Same as the title.
People who got allotted into DU masters degree this year? Especially north campus folks?? If you are not comfortable commenting here, you can message directly.
This post is for those who aren't sure about how to rank north campus colleges. I will also include a few top tier South campus colleges.
I have categorised the colleges into tiers.
S: SRCC, Hindu, Stephens, LSR, Miranda
(Note: If you want to prefer placement over diversity then rank Stephens above Hindu and vice versa. Similarly, if you prefer placements over the north campus then rank LSR above Miranda and vice versa)
A+ : Hansraj
A: KMC > Venkateshwara ( If you strictly want North Campus then you can put venky below Ramjas & SGTB)
B+: Ramjas > SGTB > JMC ~ DRC > IPCW (Again, if North Campus is a priority then JMC can be placed below DRC & IPCW)
B: ARSD ~ Gargi > KNC > SBSC > DCAC
Hope this helps.
Hi guys, I am creating this post to share some suggestions that were shared with me by my senior.
Choose electives wisely. For those of you, who don't know. The majority of departments have 6 papers in the 1st year - 3 cores, 2 electives, and 1 SBC. He told me that many freshers make the mistake of choosing electives based on timings and day which is a practical decision but might hamper your internals or academic experience. His suggestion was to prioritise the faculty or the paper rather than timings. From the next day of orientation, all classes begin even the electives. So, sit in those classes and then make the decision about which electives to choose. Also, before finalizing do gather the opinions of a few seniors about a particular faculty.
For those who wish to pursue PhD. It's advisable to divide their time accordingly. Try to clear UGC NET in 1st year and prioritize deciding a topic in the 2nd year. The relationship with your faculties matter heavily here. Getting admissions in PhD solely based on merit can be very tricky so those connections will help. It's unfortunate but true.
Attendance and class participation matters, atleast for your internals. Though neither is mandatory. Most of the faculties create an impression about you in the initial phase of the semester and the marks are almost always awarded based on that.
Hi, I have seen some people perplexed about what to do next. This post is for them.
For those who are waiting for the next list, information about the same will be available by the end of this week. From tomorrow onwards UG rounds are also starting so the university will shift its focus towards that.
For those, who have opted to freeze their seats. You guys don't have to do anything else on the csas portal. We will receive an email from our respective departments about the orientation date or you can check your department's website. In the previous session there was a delay due to changes in the syllabus that's why orientation was conducted on 19th August instead of 1st August which won't happen this time. Latest, the classes will start by 5th August for our session.
Also, the physical verification remains open until the end of October so don't panic if you can't come to Delhi initially.
Hi guys, after interacting with people on this sub. I realised that many of us aren't aware much about Masters at DU
Classes are not held at any college whatsoever. Not even tutes. Only at Campus (North & South)
Campus matters. In some departments, SBC papers are only held at North campus, so one has to travel there in order to attend those classes despite being in South campus. Also, all of the classes are held at North campus in 2nd year irrespective of your department, so people who are living in PGs would've to shift in 2nd year or deal with longer travel durations. Moreover, North campus has more electives to choose from which directly translates into better control over your timings.
The benefit of choosing a college over the department is getting infrastructure access to that particular college including hostel, library, canteen etc.
A con of choosing a college over the department is that you have to travel there in order to get your administrative work done. For eg, your batchmates who are allotted in the department will just move a few meters and get their work done but you would've to travel to your specific college and travelling specifically for administrative work can feel annoying especially if you're allotted an off campus college like LSR, IPCW, ZHDC etc.
Different departments have different campus divisions amongst off campus colleges. For eg, Zakir Hussain's classes are held at North campus for the history department but generally its classes are held at South Campus for other departments. So please confirm that about your respective departments.
In Masters, Internals are conducted 2 times in a semester as opposed to once in undergraduation. So, your relation with the faculty does matter like how they see you in terms of punctuality, discipline etc. Since, end semester examinations can be given again but internals cannot. Most students prioritize internals over end sem exams initially. Hence, do consult your seniors before choosing an elective wrt who is teaching that.
Academic environment independent of relation with faculties is much more tense than UG days. One has to take their readings seriously in order to score as the overall institution is not under any "unsaid obligation" to pass everyone like UG days.
Hi, anyone got north campus for history and want to connect before the college starts?

Hi, I just checked the cutoff list and I have scored the exact score that is required to get my 1st preference but I haven't been allotted that. What should I do? Mail them or wait for the next round?
Hi guys, let's share our currently allotted department/colleges alongside our eligibility category so that people who are getting anxious about the cutoff can get some idea.
I am a 2025 graduate. My friend got an ER in the 6th semester previous June. Fast forward to a few days back. He visited the college to give the exam and then went to the administrative block to inquire about his next steps. They informed him that his internals haven't been submitted to them by the faculty despite him submitting all his internals previous year and being awarded marks in them. He calls the HoD, they had no idea on what's going on.
He then calls the professor, that taught the paper previous year, he informed him that from this year onwards people who are reappearing in theory exams would also have to give internals again and since the deadline of submission of internals have been over nothing could be done now. Friend told him that since the college is over, he had no idea about this change but that professor categorically rejected his pleas. Many more things ensued but that professor didn't budge. At last, principal had to get involved and now he has to submit some assignments.
He got lucky that principal came to his aid, so guys, if any of you've any ER kindly check with your faculty/department/administration about your internals as well especially if you've strict professors. If he didn't inquire about this, idk what would have happened.

Will be starting my MA, this August. Seniors, how different is life from UG?
How’s the social life, friend circles, campus culture, etc. Is it harder to make friends or does everyone eventually find there people?
Also, how can one make the most out of these 2 years, academically and socially? Open to literally any and all advice/regrets/tips...
Guys I think i might've found a 'safe' list of documents to fill in the last and second to last sections for DU graduates (Obv. acc. to me)
In the second last section just upload marksheet + digital degree.
In the last section just upload a digital degree if your results have been declared (2025 graduate or before). If the results haven't been declared then fill in the undertaking.
Logic: in the second last section, it says to combine marksheet + certificate into a single file. Though, it doesn't specify which certificate. Now, it can also mean a provisional degree BUT a digital degree is more valid than provisional so ideally it shouldn't be contested.
For the last section it mentions a degree and since 2025 graduates haven't received their actual degree yet, it only makes sense to upload the digital one here as well. So, ultimately we will be uploading the digital degree in two different sections and as counterintuitive it may sound but it's a reasonably safe option. It will also help those who are out of Delhi and will come in August or around that time for attending masters.
P.S. If you have a DU marksheet, you don't NEED to get it signed and verified by the college as in the degree it says that "This web-based Statement of Grades is valid for all official purposes". (Ideally you should if you can, if you can't then I don't think it will be a problem at least at this stage { probably they can demand those during physical verification if required} ) So, here you go.
Tl;dr : You can upload marksheet + digital degree and digital degree again separately and it shouldn't be a problem at least at this stage.
If I am not wrong then
In the second last section we've to scan the marksheet and provisional certificate into a single file and then upload it.
In the last section we've to upload either a provisional marksheet (signed and verified by college) or a Digital degree ( for people who haven't received their actual degree yet)
Am I on the right track?
I am really confused about the preference list.
I have scored enough marks to get the Department of History. Though, when I was checking the previous year's cutoff list, St. Stephens and Hindu colleges have higher cutoffs than the Department.
I am aware of the basic benefits of choosing a college over the department, that is, hoste but I have no requirement for the same. A friend suggested that elite colleges have better brand value than the Department even if it's superficial (like it looks good in CV etc.).
Can someone help me out here please.
