Anyone else scheduled to work until 10:30 PM and come back at 5 AM?

Has anyone else been scheduled to work until 10:30pm and then come back at 5am the next morning?

That’s only 6.5 hours between shifts, not including commuting, showering, eating, or sleeping.

I work in food service, and I’m wondering if this kind of scheduling is normal. How do people even manage to get enough sleep?

Has anyone else experienced this?

When is a good time to talk to my manager about my hours and schedule?

Hi everyone,
This is my first week working at Walmart. I just finished orientation, and my current schedule is from Friday to Tuesday.

I haven’t had a chance to talk with my coach yet about my preferred hours, or which days I can work. When I applied, I put that I was available, but now I’m hoping to work around 34–36 hours per week if possible.

I also can’t work on Sundays because I go to church with my husband, and I’m planning to study for graduate school exams, so I want to make sure my schedule is manageable.

When would be the best time to bring this up with coach? Should I talk to them before my first shift, during first week, or wait until the next schedule is being made?

Also, what is the best way to say this without sounding difficult as a new employee?

Thank you!
