Working key dates should earn you 2x PPTO/PTO.

we get double pointed if we call out on these dates, it's only fair that those who get scheduled on key dates earn 2x the PPTO and PTO for that day.

Leaking Coolers

Does anyone else's store's refrigerated bunker coolers constantly leak? We had the Frozen aisle freezers replaced recently but the island/bunker coolers near Deli, Meat, and Dairy are the older Hussman model coolers and it seems like they just keep leaking more and more. I was just curious if this is an issue with other stores.

How fast do you get PTO?

I'm about to start working at Walmart in about a week and I like to visit my family a couple times a year that live states away but I'm afraid its going to take me forever to even get see them again once I start working. I usually stay with them for around 4-7 days when i go visit but I was just wondering like how long would i take me as a full time employee to be able to do that or can i just submit like unpaid time off?

Meat/Produce

I am very passionate about the meat and produce department. Its something about culling and making the wall look full and colorful. I was working it under my team lead for my first 8 months at walmart before she got swapped to cap 1. She could take 2 employees with her so she grabbed me and another one. I didnt like cap 1 so I eventually went to overnight but our store decided to make a produce overnight position. I swapped back to that after almost 2 years of not being in that department

The bins were a mess. You could look up and see 10 boxes of salads or cup fruit not tagged
The floor is constantly bad. I found 4 squashed underneath new ones that had been thrown on top tied together by a fro of black and white mold
And the crew? Airheads. Attitudes. Eyerolls. Moving slowly.

The current team lead has vocally stated he doesnt give a fuck about the department and is currently on vacation but expressed his joy that I had joined the team back.
I was working so hard because a meat team lead position became available and I wanted to prove I was fit for it. I worked so hard that when 4am rolled around all 6 pallets produce was done! The team didnt know what else to do. So 3 days went by with this routine and pace. News flash: the interviews were a facade. They already know who they are picking and its a used to be coach from a different store who was currently working as a regular associate in ogp.
Heartbroken but okay. I still love produce/meat.

I found myself attempting to lead and give instructions today to these clueless people on the last 2 pallets because I decided to stop working so hard and finish everything for them and I attempted to explain to keep the door close to preserve the temperature.

Today was the day I left 2 hours early.

I did 4/6 pallets and the last 2 pallets were left on the floor for an hour and 15 minutes. I went to see what was going on and all 4 associated were crowded in the tiny room talking about a box of fruit.

Pallets half worked on the floor and them in the back. Cooler door WIDE open as they discuss a tag on a box of fruit.

I just looked, sighed and asked could we put the pallet freight on carts quickly and into the cooler. They literally acted like what I was saying was crazy because they were trying to figure out this mess of a bin they created in ONE SINGLE BOX OF FRUIT.

I clocked out and went home vowing today that I would not give instructions, suggestions or anything anymore. I will just do my job and leave at 7am

End.

Edit: i am a very soft spoken person so my words or instructions were more of “can we” or “could we”. I think everyone has a moment in time where their passion for something can be felt by the way they work and direct.

I still love where I work but I don’t think I will try again for a team lead position

How bad is working overnights at Walmart? +Time off question

Im about to start working at Walmart on the 14th doing overnight stocking and I cant lie I've been feeling quite nervous about it. To try to help my nerves I would look up videos about people working ON at Walmart but from all I can see its a lot of people complaining which obviously doesnt help with my anxious feelings at all lol. But I figured I would ask here to get more opinions on it. At my current job I work at a smaller grocery store stocking during the day but im part time cause they are very stingy with the hours the give so I only work from 5pm to around 11:20pm and only 4 days a week but at least I have experience with stocking so I figured it shouldn't be too difficult. But I would love to hear some honest like reviews and stuff about it.

Another thing I'm worried about is the time off. My current job is very flexible and is fine with me taking unpaid time off or vacation as long as i tell them 2 weeks ahead of time. I try to see family that live pretty far away for a while and stay for 4-5 days a couple times a year but from what ive seen is it takes a while to save up PTO to do that so thats why im curious about that as well.

Should I be as pissed off as I am?

So some dumb shit ass hat decided to put this pallet of potatoes in front of the door (didn't check for anyone in there) and lock me in. I'm mad furious. I don't get claustrophobic at all but I am HUGE safety advocate. (previous job was heavy machinery) (seen and heard things) I literally had to use all my strength to push it open

What is policy on cleaning up bodily fluids?

Untrained and made to clean up shit smeared toilet and walls. Normally front end associate and not ever on maintenance. I was told to just "get a wad of toilet paper and clean it up". Like what is the actual procedure on cleaning up shit smeared on walls/toilet? I doubt any unlearn says to clean up shit and blood with paper towels.

Can I report my SM for this

Pretty sure my SM is giving favoritism to one of the team leads. She's the TL over stocking 1.

I asked him if I could do like 30 minutes of OT to help out the front end and he said no OT at all for anyone.

I then see our stocking 1 TL sitting in the personnel office at almost 5PM when shes off at 4. I see shes still on the clock.

I got curious and checked her punches. She's getting almost an hour of overtime every single day going as far back as it let's me in GTA, sometimes 3 or four hours of OT

She doesnt do anything though. Her vizpick scores are below 70%. She doesnt do anything with that OT except sit in the office on her phone.

I asked my SM about it and he said mind my business and now suddenly my coach seems to hate me and the front end coach who I was really good friends with refuses to talk to me or help me.

What do I do?

Earbuds / personal speaker policy?

I'm just curious, what is your stores policy on allowing earbuds or small personal speakers? The reason I ask is that I've encountered associates who annoyingly have a personal speaker clipped to them, forcing everyone around to listen to their own music. Just why.

What has your store done for employees today?

Our snack table is completely empty. No bread, fruit, ramen, nothing. No snacks like chips or ice cream. Breakroom isn't even decorated. Happy Independence day.

Calling out for the 4th of July, part 3 of the trilogy.

My TL came to terms with me calling out on the 4th because of the importance of my family. I’m using PPTO.

However, last night I submitted my absence. I selected tomorrow (July 4th).

I got a confirmation number and screenshot.

The issue is….my TL messaged me and said “Hey, don’t forget to call out, I don’t want you to get a no call no show.”

My absence did not pop up on the store’s call out log.

I do not want to submit again, right? What do I do?

Decided to make this post after seeing another where a store had a Spark Driver Appreciation Day the same day their digital department had been downsized with free snacks.

The state of Walmart right now is incredibly sad. What looks like a chaotic mess from the inside is actually a highly calculated, years-long strategy to maximize shareholder profit at the expense of its everyday workers. Walmart is actively downsizing its in-store digital workforce and replacing it with Spark drivers who are being exploited as third-party, 1099 labor. By shifting digital delivery orders to the Spark, Walmart gets to bypass minimum wage laws, avoid paying benefits, and skip out on overtime entirely.

The most frustrating part is how much control Walmart has over these Spark drivers. They treat them exactly like regular employees when it comes to performance metrics and expectations, but the moment it comes to compensation, they hide behind the "independent contractor" label. This isn't an accident; it is corporate taking full advantage of recent political shifts. While President Biden was in office, the Department of Labor tried to protect gig workers by using a strict test to force reclassification of employees; the Trump administration's proposal to rewrite that standard gave Walmart the perfect green light to double down on this model.

Walmart bought its own delivery platform years ago to cut the legs out from under us all. This plan started way back in 2018. They knew exactly what they had in mind; they built a system designed to get around labor laws. Now, we are seeing the final phases of this rollout as they slowly downsize Digital departments nationwide.

To make it worse for the rest of the areas within stores, corporate is now forcing the strict "Items Per Hour" (IPH) scheduling system. This is a deliberate tactic to justify a massive reduction in total work hours. At the same time, hourly associates in Digital are being forced to transfer to other departments or work in other areas to pick up hours, while the extra workload is dumped onto underpaid Spark drivers. This affects everyone's hours, not just digital.

It is an incredibly dark reality, and it shows that corporate values the stock price far more than the people actually running the stores.

Onepay overdraft

I just recently got the OnePay builder card and I’ve been trying to figure out what exactly I can do with it. I was told that I would be unable to use the overdraft or even be unable to make purchases if I’m already in the negative balance. Onepay debit would let me pull out cash from a register or even at the customer service, with overdraft activated. I was wondering if I could do the same with the builder card? I’m also questioning it because I was also told that you’re unable to pull out cash on a OnePay debit card if you’re in negative balance with an available overdraft balance. I’ve pulled out cash with a negative balance with the OnePay debit so if anyone could help me and let me know if it would do the same it would be very much appreciated.
