I've found my people 🥹

I've been confused by the simmering toxically pro-weight-loss sentiment in the Mounjaro subreddit (and from my own doctor). And on the other end of the spectrum there's a fair amount of hostility to GLP-1's in the Health at Every Size subreddit (I empathise with them and I believe in HAES, but their attitude to these drugs feels like an overcorrection). I felt unseen by both.

So finding this sub has been ridiculously lovely. I did not expect so many people to be here, and writing such uplifting, meaningful posts! I was able to tell almost instantly that everyone in this group shares the same underlying science-based, holistic, empathetic worldview, it was so freaking validating. It's all resonated with how I feel, and with my experience on tirzepatide so far.

My back story: PCOS with insulin resistance, high cholesterol, MASLD, chronic gut issues, POTS, likely reactive hypoglycaemia. Also likely MCAS and SIBO but Australia is so far behind the times when it comes to newly recognised conditions that I haven't met a single doctor who has even heard of either.

I'm on week 2 of the 2.5mg dose of tirzepatide and already feeling the effects. Reduced inflammation and no more crashing after meals 🥳 A part of me is hoping to get smaller too, but I'm trying to keep that side in check and remind myself that the whole reason I did this was for health, not size, and this will be well worth it even if I don't shed the weight.

(This is despite what my doctor said, but that's a whole other story - I'm planning to put up a separate post venting about how confusing and disorientating it was that Australia markets Mounjaro almost exclusively as weight loss, not for diabetes 😪)

But anyway, thank you guys for being a ray of light! I could read your posts all day 💕
