Thank you to everyone who fosters animals to bridge the gap between rescue and forever homes!
I’m posting here because I just adopted two kittens from a local animal shelter and I have no idea who fostered them but I want to send a “thank you” into the universe. My 19 year old calico cat passed away a few weeks ago and I knew I wanted to rescue a pair of kittens/young cats next. I met a few bonded pairs at some rescues and it was hard to not take them all… the height of kitten season is here and they are desperate for good homes. I ended up spotting these two sisters at a local shelter. Apparently the foster had dropped them off that day as they just turned 8 weeks. These kittens were so confident and sweet in the chaotic, strange place and purred when I cuddled them. I had to leave them there all week after adopting before their spay schedule. I finally got to bring them home last night, and despite being left at the shelter for a week, getting spayed and then a one hour car ride to a new home, they settled in amazingly. One is a runt and lost even more weight over the week, but I’m sure she will bounce back quickly. I’ve literally spent the ENTIRE day with them, and they both have purred and slept on my chest for hours and hours. I’m hoping they stay this cuddly for the next two decades, but I KNOW their foster home raised them with lots of love. It really made a difference in getting them a home, so thank YOU for what you do for all the critters out there to improve their chances in life. And if the foster of “Peeps” and “Pastel” (now Panda and Taz) see this post please connect! I’d be happy to share them as they grow up.
