Do you think the roster is really that surprising?
Ok, I am not here to start a fight. I want to hear genuine opinions, because I have to vent about this. This roster is not that surprising, like... at all.
Lets start in order: First lets start with Doom and the Rider. They are obvious picks, Doom is the most obvious. But Ghost Rider also is. I played a lot of Blazblue to know that Arkcys loves they're broody edgt protagonists with charm. So what better choice then Ghost Rider that also happens to be loved? And they chose Robbie since he is younger than Johnny or Dany, choosing Robbie also distances himself a bit from the MVC one where it was Johnny. Besides, Robbie is becoming very popular nowadays. A lot of games and adaptations are choosing Robbie over Johnny, wich I can understand. Doctor Doom is such an obvious pick that I am surprised anyone didn't saw it coming. Not only is he an fan favorite Marvel character, but also an fanfavorite MVC character. Besides, Arkcys loves they're cool and full of personality villains.
Next lets go to the X-Men team. Having an team with Strom as leader is an obvious idea. Using Cyclops would be too usual, and Rogue would be too difficult to make in an fighting game well. So using Strom not only do we get more female characters but let people have an fan favorite MVC character. Wolverine is obvious, don't wanna discuss that one. Magik is obvious because Arkcys loves they're characters with huge swords, I never played Guilty Gear but she screams to be like the protagonist, even the demon form part. Besides, Magik has become an fan favorite character in recent years. Danger would be the more surprising... until you look at the fact Arkcys loves robot girls. I played Blazblue, I know it. And lets look at the fact that this is Danger in name only, she looks NOTHING like Danger. She looks like an generic robot girl, wich proves more of my point. Hell, her gameplay remembers me a lot of a mixture of all the Nu unites in Blazblue.
The Spidey Team is the team that is more the "Everything that doesn't fit a team" team. Spidey is obvious. Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) is an character that Marvel has been pushing forward more and more, for better and worse. She is not surprising to be here. Star Lord is not obvious either because the Guardians of the Galaxy are very mainstream. And since mVC already used Gamora and Rocket it would be pretty obvious to use Star Lord, especialy since Iif I remember he was pretty well wanted to be in MVC. And Penny Parker is one of the most surprising picks, gonna admit that... but not an weird pick. Penny has been in two of the most loved super hero mvoies of all time, she is also in rivals. Besides, she fits the archetype of the big robot that figthing games love. Hell, Peny here looks a lot like an Tronbon substitute. But yeah, she is the more surprising... but not an weird and far from unbelievable pick.
And finally the avengers. Iron-Man, Captain America and Hulk are the most obvious picks in this roster outside of Spidey or Logan. The true weird pick is in they're team... Shuri Black Panther. I still can't believe they choose Shuri instead of T'Challa, I have nothing against her but am surprised. But from what I have seen from fans Marvel seems to be pushing T'challa in an not that gooddirection, pretty mutch like Spidey in the comics and other butchered characters in comics. And Since Shuri is now in the movies I can understand she being here. Yes, T'chala was in Cosmic invasion and Rivals, but I have seen some arguments that point to BP not having the best treatment, being slowly pushed asside. Again, I am no BP fan so I don't know mutch, but thats what I heard. And no, I have nothing against Shuri, she is the only character I would be genuinely thrilled to play as someone actualy new. I love how Shuri looks and fights in this game, I can see the problems but I have nothing against this character.
So now I ask, what do you all think of the roster? Because I have seen a lot of people saying that is an revolucionary roster, full of weird picks. And I just don't see it, this roster has been pretty surprising for me, someone that is a fan of marvel comics, games, movies and cartoons. Hell, I am not the biggest Marvel knower and yet even I knew Danger before she appeared. Then again, I read that run so I knew her before she being revealed. Hell, when I saw the X-Men roster I locked and said "Oh Its Storm, Logan and Magik? Ok. Wait, who is the robot chick? Some very glupshitto mutant?" when I saw the name Danger I literaly set there in confusion, because I couldn't recognise her from a mile, someone that actualy read that story and knew the character.
I am not here to say if the roster is good or bad or if its too small, I already did that and saw that people pretty mutch jumped to pitchforks. So I am here to ask, do you all genuinely think this roster is that surprising? Because to me surprising was this roster having an character like Hood, Tigra, Hunters Moon, Spider-Woman, Hercules, Giant Man, hell and this all are pretty mutch known characters to an casual Marvel comics reader or fan. Real glupshittos would be characters that only an real fanatic Marvel Fan would know. If the roster had those I would genuinely be surprised for the roster and boldness. But what we have? It looks to be very safe for me. Sure, the main villains are glushitos. But the roster? Yeah they surely aren't unknown characters (Outside of Danger. And as I said, she is an obvious pick if you know the characters Arkcys makes).
So, what do you all think? Again, I am not crticising the roster, I am here to discuss the claims that this roster is bold or surprising.
