TW: positivity rant

I didn’t choose this team, I was born into it. I couldn’t (truly) support another club if I tried. There’s 18 teams and I happen to belong to the one that is not only the best one in the competition, but arguably the greatest in history.

It’s not the fans’ fault our performance is so elite - in fact we turn up in droves every single week despite knowing we’ll probably belt whoever we play. Which other club can say the same? The club is genuinely lucky to have fans like us, but how long until the rest of the comp gets sick of us becoming the standard everyone else chases? (no shade I think I’d be jealous too)

It’s been 5 years of this greatness. 5 years. I genuinely can’t stop enjoying the sport I love. I am more proud than ever to be a west coast supporter, I’m genuinely smug when I watch a game with my non footy fan partner when she asks why my team keeps kicking absolute laserbeams to teammates.

How can I support a club that gives absolutely everything back to its supporters? (I mean I still will because I’m a sick sick person like everyone else here) It’s sad to see clubs like Carlton, Essendon, Richmond and North go into games expecting to lose or at least not put up a fight and sulking in the defeat when they lose, hearing the media trash their players and coach and just not enjoying the footy.

The coffee bloke from critical AFL was right, the players were trying their best and with a clear instruction and elite game plan it makes their jobs 100x easier. Fucking GWS. They're a joke.

McQualter is a genius and I can already see us turning talents like McCarthy, Reid, Dursma, Murdoch etc into absolute superstars. I’ll say it with my chest and be sad to have this rubbed in my face if we ever lose again.

This is not a knee jerk reaction to yesterday this is the culmination of 5 years of elite performance from the club I love.

It’s not the fans‘ fault our performance is so poor - in fact we turn up in droves every single week despite knowing we’ll be belted. Which other club can say the same? The club is genuinely lucky to have fans like us, but how long until our patience runs out and we devolve into the rabid Essendon and Carlton fans? (no shade I think I’d be rabid if i were them)
