Tacoma + 4Runner

First-time car buyer here looking for some advice.

I’ve been doing a lot of research, and it seems like the Toyota Tacoma and Toyota 4Runner are two of the most reliable vehicles out there. I really like the look of both and would love to buy a used one.

The ones that fit my budget are mostly in the 90,000–125,000 mile range. For vehicles known to last a long time, is buying one with that many miles still worth it if it has been well maintained?

I live in Western New York, so rust and winter weather are definitely concerns.

What are the main things I should look for when buying a used Tacoma or 4Runner? Any specific years to avoid, common issues, or rust spots I should pay close attention to?

My main goal is to get a reliable vehicle that I can keep for many years with proper maintenance.

Thanks in advance for any advice!
