Wacholder Probleme
Hey Leute,
Tanqueray Bloomsbury Gin Review
Name: Tanqueray Bloomsbury London Dry Gin
ABV: 47.3%
Size: 1l
Botanicals: Juniper (from Tuscany), Angelica, Coriander, Cassia, Winter-Savory
History: This is a Tanqueray Limited Edition Gin, similar to the Tanqeray Malacca, the Lovage or the Old Tom. This was made in 2015 and Only 100k bottles were produced. This is the Last Gin developed by master distiller Tom Nichols developed for Tanqueray. He said it is based on one of the original recipes of Charles W. Tanqeray from the 1800s. The name comes from the London City Area of Bloomsbury, were the original distillery was before relocating to Scotland during the Blitz of WW2.
Nose: Rather mild for a Gin of this ABV. Juniper is clearly present (as with Most Tanquerays in my personal opinion) but accompanied by a raunt, lemony aroma. Since there‘s no citrus in this, this could come from the tuscan Juniper or the Coriander. Overall a very nice and round smell
Taste: This Gin is viscous. Oily in the best way possible. Never have i tasted an overproof Gin like this one that was as smooth! For 47.3% This is surprisingly smooth and doesn’t Jump out at ya. A clear, well rounded and juniper forward aroma fills the Gin, accompanied from a surprising sweetness. Due to the warmth of that sweetness (tastewise) and the Lack of licorice root in this gin, this has to be from the Cassia, which blends in nicely. Angelica is more noticeable than in other Gins, but in a nice, faintly carrot like vegetal-ness. The finish is dominated by Juniper, sweetness and an herbageousness that reminds me of a cross between mild oregano or thyme and a hint of anis seed. Which has to be the Winter-Ivory.
Verdict: Not the Most bombastic Gin out there. The flavor don’t explode in your mouth, BUT it feels meticously crafted and tuned and blend perfectly together. Nothing sticks out in an unpleasent way and its simplicity gives it a Kind of Beauty in a world were hundreds of craft-distillers pack their Gins with all sorts of wild Botanicals to get a certain „wow“ Factor. If you love a well crafted London dry Gin and the Tanqueray brand Overall, This is a nice, albeit rare jewel for the collection. I‘ll treat Mine with care and am happy to have been able to get one myself :)
Prost!

Gin Left Open overnight
Short question:
I acidentally Left my bottle of the Botanist open and undclosed overnight. I just realized it the Next Morning and when i drank and smelled it again, it tasted and smelled kinda off…
Could this be because of it standing open for a Night or am i imagining things? What’s your experiences on that?
Maracuja Hilfe
Hey Leute!
