Title: I know I messed up, but should I reach out after 2.5 years?
I know I did wrong, and I’m not trying to play the victim here.
I was in a relationship with a guy, and I broke up with him. He literally begged me to stay, but I still left over a very minor reason. Looking back, I honestly feel like I was just looking for an excuse to leave.
I didn’t leave him for someone else. I didn’t replace him or immediately start dating someone new. I just wanted my peace, and for a while, I was okay with my decision.
But after some time, the guilt started consuming me. I was too egoistic to reach out, and eventually, too much time passed.
It’s been around 2.5 years now. Neither of us has dated anyone since, and I recently found out through a mutual friend that he still hasn’t really moved on and is often sad.
I know that doesn’t necessarily mean anything, and I’m not assuming he wants me back. I’m also not expecting him to forgive me or give me another chance. I know I hurt someone who genuinely loved me, and I have to live with that.
But sometimes I feel like I should at least reach out and apologize. Then again, after 2.5 years, would reaching out only reopen old wounds and make things worse?
What would you do if you were in my place? Should I reach out and sincerely apologize, or should I leave him alone and let him move on?
Kyunki the guilt Consumes me...i can't just forgive myself and ever move on in my life. Anything bad happens with me i think it's my karma. Like last year only my father had an heart attack and i couldnt stop thinking about how bad ive hurt someone.
