Paint Software Update

こんにちは! Everyone!
Akira here. A lot has occurred since the last update. To fall back on the previous update, we’ve discussed The Memory Paint software I’ve been working on. To give everyone a quick refresh of the goal of the software. Memory Paint is designed to be an art software that is meant to best replicate real life art mediums, with flawless, and easy effort. The purpose is to allow anyone of any background with or without a history of art, to be able to create a masterpiece simply and easily.
This has been a fun, and eye opening project for me, and at the age of 27, growing up obsessed with tech, and quirky computers and inventions, this would be my first project that I’ll be putting out there. My mom is Japanese, and my dad is French Canadian, my mom side of the family is made up of artists, while my grandfather, and a few of my family members on my dad’s side, worked at IBM in NC before the Charlotte branch dissolved. So, in a way, this project kinda serves as a blend of two philosophies I grew up with.
In the last post, we’ve worked on a physical prototype for the software, I’ve dubbed it “The Tech Canvas”
While the first prototype was aesthetically pleasing, the hardware simply couldn’t handle the software. So, going back to the drawing board, I’ve decided to rethink and go with a new design. From the images and the sketch you see, the big component that will most definitely stay, is the art easel. Which, not only looks pretty cool, it made it comfortable to use when testing the software with a sketch pad.
Prototype 2 was a massive success!!
As far as when the Tech Canvas will go into the market for sale? It’ll be a while, I’d much rather perfect something, and offer quality over quantity. It won’t be any time soon sadly :( sowwy!!! But expect it to launch with a low price ($90 or less)

So, in the youtube video, I went through a quick demonstration of Ver 1.2. I will say, I’m not a youtuber, the video sucks lol, and it’s pretty hard to tell what I’m clicking on when showcasing the software. Here’s what I’ll say about Version 1.2 of Memory Paint. Wet on Wet techniques have been added for all three mediums, a line straightener tool has been heavily worked on, now any shape, squiggly line, or sketch, will now have perfect curves, angles, etc. This is still a work in progress as you can see in the youtube video lol. Other features have also been fixed to where it’ll run as intended.

Version 1.3 is now in development. A ton of new things are getting added! And it’ll def be a massive improvement over 1.2

As always, I’m looking for feedback for anyone who is down to test out what is currently available on my itch.io page, and Version 1.3 that is stil being worked on. If anyone wants to hit me up, feel free to leave me a comment and message and I’ll get back with ya!

Thank you everyone for the amazing support!! ^w^

Paint Software Update

Whats going on everyone!?
Akira here!
So to give an update on the Memory paint software I was working on, I wanted to create a physical component prototype for the Memory Paint Software just like what I’m doing for the Cyberdeck.

The goal is this, to create an easy to use art software that anyone regardless of talent, can create a piece of art.

Within the first two release of Memory net Paint “Version 1.0 & 1.1” (Available on my Itch.io page) I wanted to pay homage to Microsoft paint, but allowing a very accurate replication of real life art mediums abd the accurate way it’ll blend on canvas.

So!! Here’s the thing about prototyping, especially when it comes to hardware, it’s not guaranteed to work the first go around. That’s okay!! It’s part of the process. Thats the purpose of prototypes. :3

So, I built a basic tablet with Raspberry Pi, running Android. And, as you can see in the video, the software isn’t loading abd running properly. 👉👈🥺

I did some recoding for a separate version for the Tech Canvas “Tablet” and with no luck. Originally, I was going to go back to the drawing boards, and sketch up a new OS Paint design for the tablet, but, I wanted to test it on my partner’s old Microsoft Surface Tablet, and it loads and runs perfectly.

I plan on either purchasing or building another tablet t for the next prototype, and see how it runs :p

So!! Below, are some of the paintings done by my partner on the software, using the Acrylic Art medium.

Happy Pride month everyone!! :D I go by She/Her 🏳️‍⚧️

The custom Cyberdeck (MemoryDeck) update

I have returned!
My apologies for the sparse posts, I’ve been working full time, while funding these projects. I’m definitely busy lol! But I do appreciate everyone’s patience! I’m actually just now responding to my DMs on here 👉👈🥺

So the latest update on The Memory Net was the fact that there will be a physical component with it, which was an idea brought up by the other creator of the project named Sakura.
We’ve decided to harken into the Cyberdeck idea.

So, last few posts, I showed off my concept sketch, and the actual first prototype build, and a few nights ago, I decided to test run one key component, which was the screen projector (May or may not be in the final build)

I’ll be uploading a video soon showing off the test, but so far, I love it, obviously you’ll be able to connect the Cyberdeck to a monitor, or have it with you on the go, but purely as gimmick, despite the fact it’s been done plenty of times before, I thought it really captured the cyberpunk kinda theme we were vibing for.

So!! Another update. I’ve had this philosophy i dubbed “Technical Evolution by Devolution” which strips technology back to the basics of the late 90s and early 00s, but a modernized and more advanced form of it. (Instead of the Spotify app, think of a iPod or a Walkman, thaf can allow you to play your music, but with way more sound customization. Or instead of a MS word or Google Doc app, there’s a highly advanced and modern form of a “typewriter” that is used for typing and writing, with apps where you can share your work)

I really played around with this philosophy, just because I see the trend of Retro tech and aesthics being popular again, and I think it harkens to us wanting to own our tech, creative freedom, and mental health reasons.

Why am I bringing this up? Well I was working on some software for The Memory Net, which would be our own version of Paint, Word, Excel, and some coding and sprite design software. Obviously, this is going to push The Cyberdeck back, but I’d much rather put out quality over quantity.
My mom and the Japanese side of my family are artists, same with a tad bit of my French side of the family. So when working on the paint software for the project, I sorta went all out with it lol. I love art, and doing paintings was my first side gig in middle school.

Memory Net paint is the current name of this software, but that name is subject to change. It’s a piece of software that is easy to use, but can mimic realistically, the blend and mixing of multiple art mediums. The goal? I want to do a Bob Ross painting on it. I had a few artist try out the software, and they loved what they saw so far, and I’m just now reasponding to my messages on here for other testers.

I actually want to go ahead and implement my philosophy, so I’m thinking of working on these programs, but making a physical component to each one, but each with their own unique style and design thaf hits different. Oh! And I want to make them affordable, any blue collar worker can get one.

It’s ultimately about giving peeps the tools, so they can get creative. Especially with A.I Art taking up everything.

More info soon to come!! :p

What’s up everyone??
Sorry it’s been a while since I made some updates on The Memory Net, I’ve recently just scored me a full time gig, and paying bills while starting a family does take up a lot of time :3
However, the project isn’t over!! :D
I’m working on some applications for the Cyberdeck, and I’m hoping to see if there are any talented artists or anyone in general who is interested in giving this paint software a little test run, and to give back feedback!!

If anyone is interested! Shoot me a message!

What’s going on everyone?! :D

I want to give everyone the utmost apology for the late update. I actually just recently landed myself a job, and having a partner, and a family, alongside bills to take care of, life got pretty busy lol.

The Memory Net Project is evolving, and with a job now being available, and very healthy income rolling through, me and the team decided to make a physical component to The Memory Net.

We wanted to work with the WebSring Operating System design, and have a computer with a particular gimmick, kinda like how Nintendo usually designs their game systems. So, we wanted to build a unique piece of technology, that is cut off from the base Web, utilizes the indie web for its fuel, is a working station, and can also browse the internet offline.

The Memory Net’s main gimmick, is that the home dock station can project the screen onto the wall, or ceiling, but can also connect to any monitor or device by HDMI, and that you can take the device the runs the OS, with you anywhere you like, use the Internet while offline (Fox Dropping will play a huge role in this)

After discussing these ideas with the team, Sakura, one of our members, came with an incredible and modernized idea for The Memory Net. We are evolving The Memory Net into a CyberDeck. As of now, a very basic hardware prototype is being worked on just to test out the idea until full production. More updates soon to come!!!!

The Fourth Prototype is finally done!!!

We've finally finished the fourth build of The Memory Net. I go into a bit more detail about this build and what The Memory Net is.

So, Ultimately, The Memory Net is a navigation tool used to direct peeps directly towards the indie net. Similar to Neocities. As my previous posts on here and my socials, the first two prototypes started off as category sites, then it later evolved into a Internet Operating system, which really sparked a lot of popularity with the beta testers!!

This fourth build is meant to merge the Internet Operating system ideas I found online, and the navigation to the indie sites. We nicknamed it "Web String Operating System" which will not only navigate users to the indie websites, but it'll have built in tools made by indie creators through the indie net. Disclaimer: WSOS is not an invention by us despite what I said in the video. After doing research, Internet OS have been around for a long time. The first half of the video was shot before that part of the research. Sorry if it came off as bragging (,,>﹏<,,)👉👈

Another new element we've added is known as "Fox Dropping". as you see in the video, there are icons to represent the categories, fox dropping will allow other users to share their files, such as a website, art, games, etc, that other users can "Pinch" onto their desktop.

I uploaded the fourth build on my Github https://github.com/AkiraKaminaga/The-Memory-Net-Project/blob/main/TheMemoryNetWSOSPrototypePublicBuild4.html

This might be the last build until we start to work on the official OS. If anyone has any issues running the build, my email is akirakaminaga@yahoo.com I'll def send the build that way!!

Let me know what you guys think!
