Here's my tracklist showcasing the Raw Nu Metal style of the mid 90s

The First Raw Era of Nu Metal - 1994-1998

Characteristics

- Heavily down-tuned, rhythmic guitar riffs

- Bass tone often sounds springy/clicky and takes inspiration from funk/hip-hop grooves

- A lower, slightly fuzzy production. Electronic elements such as DJing or synths are rarely used

- Rapping is less common than later styles, though it still can appear occasionally e.g. 7 Words by Deftones, ¿Pimp? by Clown

Thanks to u/IGotSatan for inspiring me when making this

This is crazy, Mainstay are following me on Instagram

Never thought I'd be followed by an actual nu metal band before, the pop-punk/nu metal band A follow me also (the band that did the song "Nothing")

Different styles of early Nu Metal (mid 90s)

The early nu metal scene was way more broad and diverse than you'd think. Many bands incorporated aspects of the genre before "nu metal" was ever used as a term.

I have grouped various albums from this era into 5 main types: Raw, Rap Rock, Grunge/Alt, Funk and Miscellaneous.

Special thanks to u/IGotSatan whose "types of nu metal" series influenced how I view nu metal and inspired me to make this.

Looking for similar albums to these

These 3 albums have a very similar vibe that I'm really getting into

Characteristics:

- They each have a very nostalgic 90s feel, "retro" album cover aesthetic and a sound that mixes Hard Rock with Alt Rock and Nu Metal leanings.

- A similar melodic vocal style (at least with Strawhorse and Liquid Gang) and catchy choruses.

- They kinda sound like they'd belong in an early PS2 game soundtrack.
