Most DSOs are using AI like Overjet, Pearl and Videa to monitor providers and recommend over treatment at the patients expense.

Which are some of the worst DSOs you’ve worked for to help avoid this?

I’m seeing DSOs like Aspen, Rodeo, Dental Care Alliance, Smile Brands, Heartland, PDS, Sage, Patk View and many others all marketing this as a differentiation, but it feels like someone overlooking your shoulder while you practice and dictating treatment.

This organization continues to collect membership dollars and does nothing for the profession. I recently learned the ADA is investing in startups that are on the verge of bankruptcy. Wondering why Pearl and Overjet are calling your office non-stop? That’s because the ADA invested in them. The former Executive Director was fired because of this. Now insurance companies use Overjet to deny our claims. I suggest was cancel our memberships for a few years so the ADA can learn some financial discipline.

Reimbursement hasn’t gone up, workforce shortages everywhere, rising costs, more administrative friction. What the hell are we paying for?

It feels like the tools were designed for DSOs to justify over treating patients. Can anyone share their experiences? We’ve also heard that the ADA invested heavily into both and a key reason the former executive director was fired.

Overjet’s Review pass looks interesting but they are the key reason for denied claims from Delta, MetLife, United Concordia, Humana and Principal through their acquisition of American Dental Examiners. Delta Dental is also a key investor in Overjet through Spring Rock which is another reason we’re apprehensive about this. Any insights would be appreciated.
