BetterMe is such a scam

I’m honestly so frustrated right now and wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with this.

I signed up for BetterMe’s 12-week program. Before it renewed, I contacted support because I didn’t want to continue. They sent me cancellation instructions, and I followed them. I had zero intention of renewing.

Then I got charged ¥16,800 anyway.

I emailed support, and their response was basically that I “didn’t follow the cancellation instructions.” But I did. I followed the steps they sent me. If something went wrong with their system, I don’t understand why I’m the one expected to pay for it.

They’ve now canceled my subscription, but they’re refusing to refund the renewal charge. Instead, they offered me free workout guides, which honestly isn’t helpful when I’m trying to get back ¥16,800.

Has anyone else had this happen with BetterMe? Were you able to get a refund, dispute the charge, or escalate it successfully?

Also, if you’re thinking of signing up, I’d recommend taking screenshots of every step if you ever decide to cancel. I genuinely thought I had canceled correctly, and I’m still dealing with this.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

BetterME IS SUCH A SCAMMER!!!!

I am SO ANGRY.

I don’t usually make posts like this, but people seriously need to be aware.

I signed up for BetterMe, realized it wasn’t for me, and contacted support BEFORE my renewal date because I wanted to cancel.

They sent me cancellation instructions.

I FOLLOWED THEM.

So imagine my shock when I opened my bank account today and saw a ¥16,800 (~$115 USD) charge for another 12-week program that I never wanted.

When I emailed them, they had the audacity to tell me I “didn’t follow the cancellation instructions.”

Excuse me? YES, I DID.

How is it my fault if your cancellation system doesn’t work?

They canceled my subscription after taking my money, but now they’re refusing to refund me and instead they’re offering me workout guides.

I don’t want workout guides. I want my $115 back.

$115 is a lot of money. I work hard for my money, and I shouldn’t have to fight to get it back after doing exactly what I was told to do.

I’m honestly posting this because if it happened to me, it can happen to someone else.

If you’re using BetterMe, PLEASE take screenshots of everything, save every email, and watch your bank account like a hawk after you cancel.

Has anyone actually managed to get a refund? Did you dispute it with your bank? At this point, I’m considering every option.

This has been one of the most frustrating subscription experiences I’ve ever had.
