What's with some of the best drummers sitting super high and having the snare super low lately?

Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't remember Travis Barker or Tre Cool sitting this high with the snare so low in other videos years ago...

Is there some sort of benefit to this that people are realizing now?

I tried it myself and find it very unnatural, so I'm wondering if I just need to stick with it to get more comfortable? Naturally, I sit so my knee angle is just above 90 degrees and my elbow to snare is about 90 degrees, maybe a tad more.

Feels like it's some sort of Dave Elitch kind of new wave posture thing...

New Ball 9339X snare stand comes with these new cloth bags... and I love it.

Well played, DW.

Did I *need* a new snare stand? No.

Did I *want* this fancy new stand? Yes... but it's so expensive...

But when I opened that box and saw each part has its own cloth protective sleeve to keep this stand oh-so-shiny-and-scratch-free... It justified the whole purchase in my head.

So yeah, well played, DW.

Anyone use the Kickblock drum rug or something better?

I gig 2-3 times per week so having a drum rug for venus that aren't equipped is a necessity.

I have a pretty heavy old rubber-backed indoor/outdoor drum rug I use and was considering something easier/lighter if it's as good.

Anyone use the Kickblock drum rug or have any other suggestions? Since I haven't seen one in person, my concern is it's too lightweight and the folds will bother me in day to day usage.

My top priority is it keeps everything in place, lays flat and doesn't get in my way, and it's super easy to set up and fold since I'm gigging often.
