[Mannix] I do think for the why of this deal, the Celtics fundamentally believed the Tatum/Brown partnership ran its course and it would deteriorate further if it was kept together.

Mannix thinks they believe the way Jaylen played last year would make it more difficult for him to settle in the role he’d be in next season for them to be successful.

He also says that he disagrees with the urgency they did this deal as this type of offer wasn’t going away from any team down the road.

[MacMahon] This was the best offer (the Celtics had on the table for Jaylen Brown. (From the Sixers) It wasn’t for a lack of hunting, searching.

>MacMahon believes that they decided to trade Jaylen before the Giannis speculation started and got caught without a contingency plan.

>Windhorst also said that people around the league believe this was a trade that was made under duress by the Celtics.

PSA - Inside the NBA will be on the finals coverage pre/half/post game segments.

Per the ESPN press release, Draymond is going to be joining them for games 3 and 4 in New York.

So that will be a new change for the broadcast this finals. Wonder if any other special guests come on.

Bill Simmons last night on his podcast had a few tidbits regarding the offseason

He said he expects Giannis to be traded in the next few weeks, same with Trey Murphy (mentioned Boston as a fit for TM3).

Also speculated that with Sean Sweeney being hired by the Magic, they’re a Giannis possibility now.

He also had a quote that “If in the Bucks, and I can get rid of Giannis and get Paolo as the centrepiece, I’m doing that.”
