Does Shen trigger before Kha Zix gets +2 from an ambush?

I thought Kha zix's attack ambush was added on a chain and figured you could respond to it by playing shen, but the guy I fought said that wasn't how it worked. Could I get clarification as to how the interaction would play out?

Sundisk ruling/confusion

Ever since the legion ruling changes, I have no idea how this card functions when played. Here are some hypotheticals, could someone tell me which ones are valid and how exactly sundisk works with legion?

  1. I play Sundisk. Since I played a card, legion is in effect, so I can tap sundisk to play a readied unit

  2. I play Sundisk. From here, I must play a card to proc legion.

  3. I play a card, *then* Sundisk. Since Sundisk is the secons card, legion is in effect.

Piercing light can't pick the same target twice with the same cast, correct?

So if the enemy has a Darius, I can't do 2 damage and 2 damage on the same red darius within the same cast, right? I can only do 2x2 and 2x2 (making it impossible to kill a healthy red darius with only piercing light)?

Who would win: Yuji vs Denji?

This seems like a pretty cool matchup with tons of interactions!

-Denji heals off blood but Yuji has poisonous blood

-Both are close combat fighters

-Yuji has soulsplitting punches and Denji has a seperate entity in his body

-Denji is faster but Yuji has surehit with his DE

All in all, I think both have a genuine chance against each other. Thoughts?

Heroic Charge viability

It's a cool combat trick that essentially guarentees a unit survives a combat. That being said, 3 energy is a genuinely hefty cost. Is it worth running one or two copies, or is deathgrip/hidden blade still the best yellow combat spell?

Struggling against Vex

If she has Vex on board, there's no combat tricks I can do to make an aggressive move (like readying a unit Ijust played).

That's fine, I can just slowly build my base for a big shove.

Except Vex has physical combat answers as well. Back off, shadow, rebuke, gust, existential dread, etc. If I go put all my might in 1 unit, she just needs to either stun or bounce it. If I go wide, Im more susceptable to things like gust. Throw in a Sona, and she has a crapton of options with her runes/draw power.

Ok...so combat isn't the way to go. Maybe spells?

That's even worse, due to her color combination. Defy, Not so fast, abandon, Star crossed, discipline, etc. Plus, Vex has deflect...so in most cases, it isnt worth targeting her since you'll deramp and she'll have a response to your spell.

All the while, Vex is drawing 1-2 cards from her ability (and usually from grove of the fox).

I'm red/yellow and Ive experimented alot with various cards. I'm struggling quite a bit and would love some tips/help against vex. Thank you in advance :)

Art imitates life: how Gojo simultaneously heightened, lowered, enhanced, and worsened Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade.

https://preview.redd.it/ystw6poyeg1h1.png?width=600&format=png&auto=webp&s=e7684754a97a39fe671242b71060f533b6442798

Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade is JJK's mobile gacha game. I've played since day 1, and witnessed as the paralels of the JJK manga were unintentionally repeated in JJKPP...all because of Gojo. It's so facinating that I want to just...walk with you and explain how Gojo is simultaneously the greatest and worst thing to happen to JJKPP.

So, JJKPP is a gacha mobile game. You have 4 color varients (Red, yellow, green, blue), two damage types (physical and jujutsu), and different roles (Buffers, debuffers, tanks, attackers, interferers, etc. In short, support and damage). On launch, the characters were extremely diverse and lore accurate. Yuji, having no way to do cursed damage, is a physical only unit. Meanwhile, Nobara can nuke with cursed damage. The game even gave less popular characters a chance to shine in genuinely cool ways. Examples include:

-Mechamaru being immune to most debuffs, yet being unable to heal from RCT (since he's a puppet)

-Miwa being a tank who can counter physical hits

-Momo having built in evasion when she buffs, and forcing her to attack/be vulnerable to regain cursed energy (CE)

-Ichiji only appearing as a rare character, and being nearly useless

-Yaga being a backline buffer, and genuinely carrying the game for a solid year

In short, everyone was extremely accurate to their manga counterparts. So...then comes the question: how do you balance Gojo? He's super strong, far above everyone, can't be touched, etc. If he were to be directly translated, he would be busted. So...what's the fix?

Simple: the game devs made Gojo have drastically inflated stats who can't be touched due to his infinity...yet only last on the battlefield for 7 turns. After that, he "forgets" something he has to do, and leaves.

Thematically? Extremely appropriate. Gameplay wise? An utter nightmare.

You now had multiple missions where, no matter what, Gojo was the best answer. Damage? Gojo. Tank? Gojo. The enemy is strong against blue units? Doesn't matter: Gojo can't be touched for 7 turns.

Solely because Gojo existed, the game's difficulty had to be slowly increased to match his output. The problem? Nearly everyone was on the same level apart from Gojo. So, by making it so Gojo struggled, the other characters got drastically powercrept extremely quickly. Even bigger was the problem that Gojo only lasted on the field for 7 turns. So, if you failed to do anything substantial, you "lost"...even if you had 4 other units remaining.

Now...here's the thing. This Gojo was blue. There are 4 colors in this game. You can see where this is going.

https://preview.redd.it/hhi6q845kg1h1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=d7cea9300ca6977ccb4e93e91320c4c5de5fec1b

Green Gojo, dubbed HPGojo (as he used hollow purple) came out, and instantly became top tier and the best green jujutsu damage unit. All other units did fine, but paled in comparison to either Gojo. HPGojo still had the downside of leaving after 7 turns (or after he used his ult), but that was fine: he always got the job done.

The devs saw the success of HPGojo and Gojo. In response? For their half anniversary, they released Teen Gojo (colored yellow). His gimmick? He flat out didn't leave the battlefield.

https://preview.redd.it/yywfqoz7kg1h1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=a3faa4088cb760f85b05b47e0fb7fb5b1789649a

Now, they balanced this by ensuring that Teenjo had to refresh his infinity manually, ensuring he would be whittled down...but this was the biggest powercreep the game had gotten at this time. A unit who could debuff enemy damage, took no damage, could self buff, could target agro, and had an AOE nuke. Dude was insane and a majority of endgame content slowly had to balance around the fact that Teenjo existed.

What is endgame content? Well, JJKPP realized that players were playing their game...and that their game lacked content. So, they added a mode called "Illusory Tower", where they added bosses with gimicks. Essentially, health sponges. All varients of Gojo could easily clear these stages: after all, they can't take damage. So, how did the JJKPP devs respond?

Simple! They exponentially increased the difficulty of the bosses by inflating Illusory boss's HP, while adding stupidly frustrating gimmicks. And despite all this...Gojo still persisted as the #1 unit, proving to be the best option for all endgame content.

And mind you...the other characters in this game were all still at relatively the same power. So, they suffered, since they could take damage...all while Gojo couldn't.

Soon, Gojo became one of the few viable units to nuke endgame content. So, the meta shifted: 3 supports, 1 damage dealer. The comp was simple: have your supports buff your Gojo, and prey his ult 1 shots the enemy sponge tank.

The story does not end here. It gets worse.

Anniversary rolled around. Two units of note: Sukuna (who was blue) and Domain expansion Gojo (who was red).

Let's start with Sukuna. How do you compete with the current blue Gojo? After all, that Gojo can already do many things, all while not being touched.

https://preview.redd.it/u4gwuygekg1h1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=8d59de9bfb44821744e446150c3c96c48fdb8654

Simple: give Sukuna passive health regeneration, self sustaining cursed energy, nukes/self buff potential, and a domain that beats out all other domains while nuking all enemies. Oh, and make sure he doesn't leave the field. Just like that, blue gojo got powercrept...yet if not for blue gojo, Sukuna would 100% not be the monster he was.

Then there was Domain Gojo (dubbed DEjo). Unlimited Void is busted in the show/manga. How would you replicate it?

https://preview.redd.it/8drcagcckg1h1.png?width=5392&format=png&auto=webp&s=e323cccf16817e91991ab7e6b24fbb6f67923403

Simple: Have the ult do an undodgeable AOE stun that drastically increases all damage taken for a few turns, pause enemy ult timers, reset enemy ult timers, and have basic skills that either serve to do ultimate levels of damage or passively debuff enemy damage. Oh, and increase the cap of when DEjo has to leave from 7 turns to 10.

That's right. They made the DPS nuke...into an untouchable debuffer utility support...all while keeping his damage numbers in tact.

Every single comp was now running DEjo. After all, why not? Even if the boss had a statement saying "red units do 0 damage", it didn't matter; DEjo's job was to cripple enemy damage, and then stun them harshly. Since he can't be damaged, nothing can actually stop DEjo from ramping.

Oooooh, the game devs did not like this character. They kept buffing endgame bosses. Every single time, it failed. From reducing ulti cooldown to increasing X damage taken, all sorts of buffs were added to endgame bosses to nerf DEjo...yet nothing worked. He remained untouchable.

That's when the dev's gave up and gutted the entire game, solely to nerf this character. Past a certain point, bosses would now have the following:

-100+million hp (to ensure Gojo's turn limits would be met)

-Not allow units that aren't the color of the boss (meaning you can't shift DEjo into any comp)

-Allowing the bosses to hit through invulnerability (to ensure gojo's infinity doesn't save him)

-Not allowing Buffs/debuffs on certain floors.

-Not allowing Jujutsu/Taijutsu on certain floors.

And after a while...they did it. DEjo went from a staple of every deck to being utterly useless. Great! Except...two big problems:

1.This was a gacha game. A good chunk of endgame content was balanced around Gojo, and a majority of these Gojos would not come to standard banner for a while. So, if a boss had been balanced around HPGojo and you didn't have him? Genuinely, good luck.

  1. Remember: a good majority of the cast were of equal power. Gojo was the main exception. So, while Gojo became balanced, everyone else just...flopped over and died. Supports were getting one shot, DPS were being irrelevant, etc. No matter how cool/thematic the unit, if they didn't help Gojo 1 shot the boss, they were useless.

Then it got to the point where people came to the consenses of "Why pull if it isn't on the powerlevel of Gojo" or "Why pull if it won't beef up my Gojo-level unit?". So, the devs slowly began to powercreep numerous gacha units...far more than most games. This would make endgame content easier, which led to the devs upping the bar, which drowned the already falling behind units.

And now...here we are. Nearly all Gojos have been powercrept (Teenjo still has some use), and all endgame content has been permanently impacted because of Gojo's existence. The more I looked at this game's lifespan, the more funny I found it how the stupid Gacha game perfectly matched the narrative of JJK, with everything centering around Gojo. "The manga only got attention bc of Gojo" "The manga sped up too fast bc of Gojo" "The series is too dependant on Gojo" etc. All arguments you can make abt Gojo in JJK can be made with JJKPP to a shocking level of accuracy.

TLDR: Gojo too strong on release, sped up powercreep in a linear way of JJK manga. Thanks for reading c:

Questions about surviving a death cost

What happens when a unit survives death via temporary, death grip, or sacrifice?

  1. Does the temporary unit live?

  2. Does the death grip targeted unit still get its unit, even when the targeted unit survives death?

3.If a unit survives sacrifice, do you get the effect of sacrifice?

Struggling against Leblanc

So Leblanc's tempo comes from a single conquer, then maintaining that lead with deathnell/clones. That means you shouldn't let her conquer. So, holding is ideal.

However, holding is very bad against blue, since blue has access to watcher. One watcher can obliterate turns of buildup. So, you should plan around it. Furthermore, as the hold meta is stronger, blue also has access to unchecked power. Double-ly bad to try and hold.

I'm at a loss as to how to really respond to Leblanc. Backline removal, like piercing light or falling star will deramp so hard that Leblanc can just win from natural tempo, yet trying to beat her in straight combat also seems poor. Leblanc players, what's the proper solution? Do you guys have a color/playstyle you're weak against?

What happens when Atakhan attacks baron?

Baron can't be chosen by enemy spells and abilities.

Atakhan does not choose, but is an enemy ability.

Does that mean baron bypasses Atakhan's kill effect?

I started around mid Spiritforged and only decided to get into the game due to the flash promo. I did a bit of research to get a rough idea of the rulings before jumping in. I main Darius (its a struggle <3) and here are my thoughts on everything:

FINDING A GAME STORE:

1. Riot's offical UVS website is extremely useful. Addresses, times, costs, regions, and store notes are all accessible. Most stores follow a "pay in person" rule, so you can always drop if something happens last minute.

  1. Some cities are nice. Other cities are a bit more...sketchy. Even so, all the stores I went to had extremely welcoming staff, with all players usually being open to socializing.

  2. I work full time and I worried that these events, which mainly happen on weekdays, would not line up with my schedule. Fortunately, most of these events either happen around 6-7 (so I can make it after rush hour) or on a weekend.

NEXUS NIGHTS

  1. The playerbase, for the most part, is super chill. Personality wise, anyways. Everyone is super friendly, tapping fists, explaining rulings, etc. Even the "arguments" about rulings are super respectful, with both sides usually open to being wrong and calling over the store owner/judge if both sides are still confused.

  2. Everyone WILL run the sweatiest, expensive meta decks. Irelias, Kaisas, Draven, etc. You'll occationally see someone running off meta, but the results are usually predictable.

PRE-RIFT (UNLEASHED)

1. Surprisingly, a mass abundance of stores in my area had openings. I heard of the horror stories online of mass overbookings, picking up packs and leaving, etc. Sure, there was always a big showing for these events, and people did take/leave with their prerift packs, but a good amount of people stay to actually play the game.

  1. It does suck getting shafted in a legend you have no hope in winning, but Ive had incredible luck with my prerift packsm ON poros, alt art vi/vex, etc. Even when you lose, its nice getting a feel for each new legend and their pro/cons.

  2. Everyone is learning and everyone is bound to make mistakes. A good amount of players would flub a move and then ask the oyther guy if they could retract and the opponent would usually let them. Its extremely forgiving.

NEWBIE EXPERIENCE:

1. As mentioned, everyone (mostly) was super vibey. They were patient, explaining rulings, allowing "takebacks" and even giving advice on what to do for future matches ("You couldve done X and prepare for Y")

  1. Most events, Nexus Nighrs and prerifts, had one or two new players. Dont let being new/alone scare you off: I promise, youll fit right in.

COSTS

  1. It's expensive. Cards, mats, containers sleeves, events, they ALL cost money. Even the cheapest deck is pricey. A Viktor starter deck can range from anywhere from $28 - $45...and that's in its basic form. Entry to Nexus Nights being $10 per night, Saturday events averaging $25, and prerifts gunning for $30-45? Its an extremely expensive hobby, and costs rack up fast. Even if you buy singles, you can very easily drop over $100. Buy boxes? A few hundred. Buy boxes at scalped prices? Quite a few hundred.

THE UGLY:

1. Most players are nice. However, I once fought a dude who would scream over the judge any time there was any form of slight disagreement. Another time, I spectated a guy who refused to let the other guy take back any moves in a prerift event.

  1. I once went to a store where there was an obvious premade group of friends. Two of the players flat out colluded to throw/forfeit rounds so one of the players could place higher than me, and then split prizing. They whispered but I was 100% in earshot. It's a stratrgy, for sure, but it still leaves a sour taste in most mouths.

  2. Some stores have great allocation, offering boxes as prizes! Others? Not so much, only affording to share a few packs here and there for select winners. As such, it financially isnt worth it to go to some events...especially if you know you arent winning.

TLDR:

Its a mostly wonderful time, with a few blemishes here and there. Only get into it if you have the money...because the costs quickly ramp up.

Let me know if you have questions and Ill try to share more! Also, let me know if you had similar experiences :)

I know summoning tokens doesn't count towards things like legion, but if faithful manufactor summons a recruit token, that token is "played", meaning it gets buffed, correct?

I've seen a lot of back and forth abt this, ranging from the #1 Darius saying it does with other forums saying it doesn't, but I'm just curious if there's a consensus on this
