Profile Visitation

If a recruiter checked out your LinkedIn after you submitted an application and still have yet to receive an email asking about an interview…does that always equate to them passing you over?

What’s the deal with this?

At this time everyone’s mass applying whether they are qualified or not. They’re using AI and tailoring their resume with relevant keywords. It seems like most “tricks” or “advantages” are now diluted.

In your experience now, what are the things you see that catches your eye and moves people to the next step? What are the things you want to see on resumes now? What should we highlight? What should we do differently?

Are we now at a time where we need a personal referral, cv, and a personal conversation with the hiring manager?

I’m very discouraged at the moment so anything helps.

4 months into joining a new company, I was laid off. Role and department eliminated. I did achieve some valuable things and got my hands dirty on a very big project that was also put on hold since the org restructure.

Is my short stint a very bad look and a huge red flag for you recruiters?

Please let me know as I’ve been struggling to find a job. Curious to know how I should navigate this!

Marketer here. Been out of a real corporate job since November 2025 (laid off). Got lucky enough to assist my dad in his small business in the meantime while I look for other opportunities.

I have a really good background in my field and It’s until now where nothing is fucking working. Referrals don’t even get me interviews. Seems like I’m either too experienced for some jobs or just a tad bit inexperienced for others.

Now out of desperation, I applied to a sales position at a growing tech startup company. I didn’t make it to the next round because…well the recruiter asked me to pitch the platform to someone who doesn’t know it.

And as a trained marketer I responded “well that’s a very broad question because I don’t know who I’m even talking to”. So I followed up with a very generic pitch of the product.

Am I dumb for thinking or saying that? There were many red flags with this role and company to begin with but i hate rejection and i feel like my comment wasn’t all that bad…
